The lights are on
Gamescom is now behind us, with the announcements, previews, and that first schnitzel fading into memory. One thing we won’t quickly forget is just how packed the Kölnmesse was once again.
The Gamescom organizers announced that attendance was down ever so slightly this year. 335,000 individuals (down from 340,000 last year) from 88 countries attended during the show’s four public days.
Evolve came away with five awards at the show, repeating its success from E3. Turtle Rock’s “4v1” online multiplayer shooter won another Best in Show award.

Our TakeGamescom is an enormous show that is garnering more attention from publishers each year. After last year’s huge platform showing from Microsoft and Sony, we wondered if this year might be a bit more muted. If you watched the press briefings, you know that there was a ton to keep us busy.
Gamescom is like no other show I’ve ever covered. It’s awe-inspiring to see the masses of fans, but if you’ve got a meeting to get to, it’s best to admire from a distance.
Gamescon was awesome! 10/10 would visit again
That's a lot of people. While I would love to go to it, not with that many people there lol. I mean that is way more than double SDCC's 2013 attendence.
Lol, that lady in the red shirt giving the finger (half finger), she is holding a bag but it's still funny.
Evolve...why is that game winning so many awards? It looks like one of those games that you'll never hear about again once released. Heard this game will only have 3 monsters. If so, how would that work on single player? You'll face one at the beginning, middle, and end?
Who decides these? I wanna hear what made splatoon the best wii u game. What other games did they have there to choose from? Not saying that splatoon winning is a bad thing
Wow that's impressive. The awards are kind of crap but I glad Evolve get it. It looks like a lot of fun but I don't see what everyone is saying its so great, great, great. I hope it is because I'm so excited to play it.
Amazing numbers, which is why I would stay away.
Standing in line for hours to play 15 minutes of an unfinished videogame doesn't seem appealing to me and repeating that process seems almost self hating.
Risen 3 for best RPG?
Best RPG was Risen 3? lol
Cool awards. That is a lot of people! Glad to hear that it got a great turnout.
splatoon FTW. need that game asap!!! D:
It's great to see that many people with an interest in gaming.
Evolve is definitly one I'm looking forward to.
