The lights are on
Watch Dogs will be running at 1080p on the PlayStation 4, if comments that the game's cinematics animation lead made in a recent studio-tour video hold up.
According to CVG, PC Games shot a video tour of Ubisoft Montreal (which has since been made private), where cinematics animation lead Lars Bonde had a few interesting things to say. First, he said that the current- and new-gen versions of the game were fundamentally the same, as far as gameplay is concerned. Then Bonde spoke of the differences between the game on Sony and Microsoft's new hardware. "We are utilizing Xbox One to its full capabilities and the same with PS4, of course, so I know that, as far as to my knowledge, on PS4 it will run in full HD."
We've reached out to Ubisoft for clarification, and will update the story should we receive additional information. In the meantime, take a look at our extended hands-on preview of the game for details on Watch Dog's first hour and a half.

Our TakeComparing native resolutions between the PS4 and Xbox One versions of games is becoming a flashpoint of discussion online. Is this something that determines what version of a game to get, or do you find it difficult to tell the difference between something running in 1080p and 720p?

Great info to know. I can usually tell the difference but as long as a game in fun and on my system, I'll get it despite the lower resolution.
As long as it can run at a steady frame rate I think I'll be fine.
Good to know.
1080p was an issue for last gen because despite the PS3's superior hardware, its resolution up-scaling was terrible and it looked slightly worse compared to the 360 version.
Now most ppl seem to think that 1080p will solve all graphical problems, which is just stupid. What was the problem was the PS3's inability to scale to higher resolutions and resulted in really pixelated explosions and decal effects.
Case in point: Infamous 2. I hate this game for more than how it looks but the biggest disappointment was when I first played it on my TV and was shocked at how bad the resolution was. My roommate played it on a 17 inch monitor (not a TV) and the game actually looked pretty darn good there. The rendering was just find but the upscaling was total *** though and its the PS3 hardware to blame for being heavily restricted in that dept. It wasn't till TLOU came and majority of those issues were gone (it was still there but did not smudge the graphical beauty as much).
Honestly most ppl won't notice the difference between the two consoles if these hype articles about 1080p weren't so boasted. What I think is a bigger concern is a frame rate. 30fps is okay but after playing skyrim, Deus ex, Dishonored anda few other games on my PC with a cool 60fps, its definitely the next step in smooth and fluid gameplay.
I'm probably gonna get it for PS4, that is of course when I get one, I probably won't get it for my Xbox One.
You know Full HD in 2014 on a 400+ dollar machine should not even be a question. I am like a proud parent the last 8 years with my Xbox, and applaud Microsoft for attempting to build a one for all machine, but consoles are for gaming. I am now a disapointed parent, If you like to use Skype and Twitch and your Xbox as a DVR when I already have a TiVo is unneeded, that is cool with me, but "WHY" do I need it. I don't and I wholeheartedly believe that gaming should be a priority with a console, since they were specifically made to compete with Gaming PC's as a lower cost option.
Alot of people will argue with me saying the Xbone is great for gaming, and to that I say you are Correct. But in 2014 as a gamer I am disappointed with Microsoft and returned my Xbox for a refund. When you realize how worthless the Kinect is without a GloryHole, and it is not worth 100 extra dollars nor is Titanfall, then maybe you will see my point. I honestly don't know what they were thinking, but I do know this that maybe I would have gotten the machine i was waiting for the last 8 years if Phil Spencer was in charge instead of Don Mattrick. I just want to game and maybe watch Netflix, I don't need another all in one machine I have a PC...
I can tell the difference but that doesn't mean 720 is bad. I'll still be happy when I pick up my preorder on the 27th. Also no one is mentioning it doesn't confirm Xbox One will run at 720p. It could still be 1080 since Ubisoft is friends with Sony so they're always being pro PS4 and giving them extra hours of content.
As if it wasn't going to be 1080p on the PS4 what is really the question is what will it be running on the Xbox 1 hmm.
