The lights are on
The Assassin’s Creed movie, which will star X-Men: First Class and Days of Future Past star Michael Fassbender, has a new writing team. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that someone has been tapped to pen the video game inspired film, though.
In January of last year, playwright Michael Lesslie was rumored to be writing the screenplay. Now, Deadline is reporting that Exodus: Gods and Kings (about biblical figure Moses) writers Adam Cooper and Bill Collage will be handling a rewrite.
New Regency is working with Ubisoft on the Assassin’s Creed film. The title is projected to be released in the second half of 2015.

Our TakeUntil there’s an official date, an announced cast, and a firm crew, don’t count this movie as a done deal. I’d rather have no Assassin’s Creed movie than a bad one, so I hope Ubisoft and New Regency take the time they need to get it right.
I will watch this just cause of Michael Fassbender.
I heard about this a year or so ago and was excited but I know that this may never actually happen. If only they understood what made that game great. The freedom of watchign the character make the right choices or the choices you thought were right at the time. I dont maybe that is just me.
I like Assassin's Creed an all but this is going to be a real tough movie to pull off. I played every one of the game's and I'm even confused about what's going on with the story now... let alone how confused I'll be sitting in the theater watching it on a big screen lol
Sooner this thing gets panned the better. Its clear the creators of Assasin's creed have no idea for a plot and a movie deal will just sour the deal more.
We will know if the movie is garbage during the opening credits. If we see Abstergo Films as the production company name, we know they already dropped the ball.
You have my attention with "Michael Fassbender."
You lose my attention when talking yet another soon-to-be travesty of Hollywood attempting to make a movie based on a video game.
I actually think the story of the first Assassin's Creed game is perfect for making a movie. The plot of that game was pretty bare, so as long as they keep the more important events (like the assassinations) in the game untouched, they'll be able to have more creative freedom for the more repetitive parts of the game.
I knew that someone would make an Assassin's Creed movie.
Just thought it would be like Left 4 Dead, a fan-created movie based on the game that you can only see on Youtube.
Can we just call this canceled and move on with our lives? If not I'll be there to say "I told you so" when it comes out and sucks.
isn't a video game kind of a movie that you play and take part in? so what is the point of making a movie of the game? they usually suck real hard anyway.
I really hope the movie is good
Ditto. I believe there is room for a movie franchise set in this universe but it needs to be done right.
This movie has gone through a lot of script rewrites and hasn't secured a director. I'm starting to show a little worry towards this one, even despite my huge love of Michael Fassbender's acting skills.
I am actually really excited about this idea. I sure hope if it happens that it doesn't suck.
