The lights are on
Update 2: Now DICE is saying that Naval Strike is rolling out to Premium members on Xbox One. Proceed at your own risk.
Update: DICE has provided more information on the reasoning behind the PC delay of the Naval Strike DLC. Additionally, the studio has also announced a delay to the Xbox One version of the content.
"We have delayed the PC version of Naval Strike because we are concerned that the combination of the pack and planned PC updates would increase performance issues on mid-range to high-end PCs," DICE shared via a post on the Battlefield Blog. "Additionally, we have decided to delay the Xbox One version of Naval Strike because we want to address issues in the animation system that hinder players from engaging targets in set circumstances using popular weapon configurations."
DICE aims for an early April release on both platforms, and assures Premium members they'll still get their two week exclusivity period. The Naval Strike update is now live on Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3.
Original Story:
Today marks the release (for Premium members) of Battlefield 4’s next DLC, Naval Strike… unless you are a PC player. DICE is delaying the release of the content indefinitely on that platform.
If you are a Premium member on one of the other four platforms (Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3), you’ll be able to start playing today. For PC players, you’ll be waiting until DICE irons out some problems.
“We’ve detected an issue and it needs to be solved,” DICE wrote in a blog post on the Battlefield website. “Quality is our number one priority and we will not release Battlefield 4 Naval Strike on PC until we feel it meets the highest quality level possible. Once we have a confirmed date for PC, we’ll be sure to update those players on our official channels. We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing everyone on the Battlefield.”
Battlefield 4 Naval Strike adds four new aquatic-heavy maps and introduces a modified mode from Battlefield 2142. Carrier Assault tasks players with infiltrating and destroying an enemy vessel before the opposing team can accomplish their own goal of eliminating yours.
Battlefield 4 has been plagued by issues since its October release, prompting DICE to temporarily delay work on DLC and and other projects in order to fix the game.

Our TakeWhile it’s the lesser of two evils to delay broken content, the fact that DICE can’t get its act together and meet deadlines on what used to be the franchise’s primary platform is astonishing. EA says the Battlefield brand hasn’t been damaged by the problems over the past five months. I think you’ll find many gamers simply disagree.
Delayed on the day it releases, sigh (shakes head and closes laptop)
This game has become a bigger joke than anything Activision has ever done.
I'm obviously not a game developer/publisher/programmer, so I can't point to either DICE or EA as being specifically responsible. However, from a certain point of view DICE and EA are supposed to be a team working towards a common goal (technical success, financial success, reputation), and as a team they have both failed. Of course EA has the final say over DICE, but the actual work of programming is done by DICE, and therefore they bear some measure of responsibility.
All of the Battlefield games contain so many good memories for me, starting 11 years ago with the first. I'm not upset with DICE or EA for doing what such business entities naturally do; I'm saddened that the series has hit this low point. Perhaps it will come back, stronger than ever, with the next installment. We might even see a resurgence of the true Battlefield experience with teamwork, balance, and game play emphasized over some flashy/slightly broken graphics engine (don't get me wrong; I love what the Frostbite engine is capable of, but there is no comparing Frostbite to something like Source engine when it comes to smoothness and functionality in a multiplayer FPS).
So I'm hoping the DICE/EA team can focus on the aspects that matter in a Battlefield game and those that don't (either drop the single player campaign or just start a new Battlefield single player brand...call it Battlefield Stories or something idk), and give us fans the Battlefield game we've been waiting for since BF2 (or even as recent as Bad Company 2, which was a fun game).
Just another great day to be a PS4 owner.
the chaos continues
LOL
Wow.
It really never ends with EA.
LOL I`m just happy I dodged this bullet the sad thing is i was especially fond of BF.
YEAAAHHH!!! NEXT GEN!! Whose with me?
which means it's poorly optimised, which is a good reason to delay it imo. still not sure what is causing them so much trouble while developing this game, i thought they would be used to devving with the frostbite engine by now -.-
Dont matter if it got delayed on pc/x1 , the ps4 version rubberbands unplayable on all the new maps in conquest , this is game is a f*****g joke and they ripped off alot of people who bought premium, not only does naval strike not work in conquest but I rubberband constantly in caspian border, dragon pass, lancang dam, hainan resort, and parcel storm. I contacted EA twice and they try to blame it on my network and ISP when alot of other people have the same prob and some maps actually do work on conquest, also all other modes that are not 64 player work fine so wtf EA, refund my premium for this broken ass game
Im glad to hear this..I hope this is a sign of change coming from dice.that they will stop worrying about deadlines and focus more on thw quality of a game..heres hoping to smooth launches on any upcoming projects.
