The lights are on
All reigns must come to an end, and we’re sure that Andrew Wilson and Peter Moore are thrilled that EA’s has sunset. In the first round of Consumerist’s Worst Company In America 2014 competition, EA has been knocked out in round one of the 64-company tournament.
Time Warner Cable edged EA out 51.2 percent to 48.8 percent. Consumerist cites Battlefield 4’s launch as particularly egregious, but also includes Titanfall as a false start.
EA took the trophy, a “golden poo” home for the past two years. Now, that torch will be passed to one of the other 63 companies.
Our TakePerhaps America finally has its priorities in order. Koch and Monsanto both advanced, as did Chase. Unfortunately, Ticketmaster/Live Nation beat out Aetna, so maybe this was just a fluke that companies that have done real harm are getting “recognition.”
As for Consumerist’s allegation that Titanfall belongs in the same category as Battlefield 4 in terms of what it calls “c*** ups,” I flat out disagree. Titanfall has had a relatively smooth launch with minimal downtime. If you’re going to include a video game company alongside those that bankrupt Americans, at least ding them for the right things.
And if you're in the camp that does believe that a video game company is "the worst," take heart. Microsoft is still in the running.
