[Update] Incredibly Rare Game In Terrible Shape Sells For Nearly $100,000 On eBay

Update: The auction has expired and the game has sold for a hefty price. The final selling price of the game was just short of the $100,000 mark with the bidding ending at $99,902.00.

Original story:

In the early nineties, Nintendo held a touring contest for players to compete for high scores in games like Super Mario, Rad Racer, and Tetris in the Nintendo World Championships. The carts used in those contests are incredibly rare, but one has appeared for sale recently on eBay and its highest bid currently sits at $98,400.86.

The seller, muresan, is a video game collector of 25 years, but says he has decided to sell off most of his video game collection. The cartridge is in terrible shape with its label nearly gone and the word "Mario" hastily written on the remaining label in pen. Despite the missing label, muresan says the cartridge works fine and is authentic.

If you're interested in placing a bid, you can head here to do so. You've got about six hours to go before the auction ends, so get your bids in now!
