The lights are on
This morning, Capcom announced that it was bringing Resident Evil 4 to PC in what the company is calling the ultimate HD edition of the game. It’ll hit at the end of February, which will be about two-and-a-half years after the game’s HD remake was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. PC owners, do you check out these ports years after they’ve been available on consoles for years, or have you already moved on?
In addition to Resident Evil 4’s remake, a few other PC ports stood out to me, but maybe not for the reasons publishers may have wanted. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow came out on consoles in October 2010, and was released on PC in August 2013. One that took me completely by surprise was Sega bringing Viking: Battle for Asgard to PC in October 2012, more than three-and-a-half years after the game was released on console.
On one hand, it’s great that these games are available to more players. Still, when it takes years for them to arrive, I can’t help but think PC gamers have moved on to other things. Am I right? Does an HD remake of Resident Evil 4 excite you now, or do you wish it had been released in tandem with the console versions?

Honestly, if I have the game on console, I never buy PC ports of those games. If the PC port is the same price or less, I will consider it if and only if I don't already have the game.
Naw some guys really like the pc high def super fps graphic
1) PC capable of playing.
2) Robust changes to the original game (rendering, physics, AI)
3) My interest in the franchise.
4) Cost.
As for resident evil, I would much rather play it on a console since that is where I have traditionally started. In the case of this game its the cost and the level of HD update, I have not touched this game since the PS2. I am hoping there is a RE saga bundle like GOW where I can play all the released titles new and old.
Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite games. So, yeah. I might pick it up. I tend to do that if I like a game enough, buy it multiple times. I picked up Ocarina of Time on that special Game Cube port and the 3DS remake. I bought the Ratchet and Clank HD remakes of the first three games even though I still have my PS2 versions. I'm going to be buying the Final Fantasy X remake.
Actually, this has been a good past several years for me getting new versions of my favorite games.
I never liked RE4, so I won't be getting that, butwhat motivates me to get HD remake ports for PC is when the game was fantastic in the first place.
Improved graphics and good optimization are all I'm looking for. Some more content never hurts.
I REALLY wish more JRPGs got the PC treatment, especially the Tales series or Ni No Kuni. I think the only jrpg I own on PC is The Last Remnant because it was cheap and the port apparently runs much better than the original version.
If it interests me, the port to PC is well done and/or I haven't played it, there is a chance I might buy it.
In Resident Evil 4's case, I haven't played it and it interests me. I'll wait to see the news on how well the port is handled, and then there is a chance I might buy it.
If it's a game that I love that has been redone (HD, for example) and I haven't played it in a long time, or if it's on a console that I don't really have access to anymore, then it's pretty cool to have that game on Steam, especially if it's on sale. I may not get it immediately, but eventually I may. There's also the fact that some people haven't played the game yet, and seeing it on Steam may arouse some interest or incentive to play it. For example, I haven't played Lords of Shadow yet even though I had heard about it, but seeing it on Steam makes me want to get it even more, since I'm primarily a PC gamer.
Final Fantasy VII and VIII were on the Top Sellers when they were released on Steam, so I guess it works, especially when there are sales.
I've only recently acquired a high-spec gaming PC, so any of the games in my backlog that I never got around to buying for my consoles, I'll buy for PC. Simple as that. And since I don't plan on buying a Xbox One or a PS4, I'll be buying PC games exclusively from here on out, whether they come out at the same time as the console version or later (glares at Assassin's Creed IV). Plus modability is always a factor in the PC's favor.
A PC Port needs upgraded graphics, 60 FPS, and some added content.
If the game is extremely good, or one that I always wanted to try, but never had the correct console, then I will buy a late PC port.
