The lights are on
I don’t expect that many of our readers are hardened terrorists that are plotting something nefarious (just a few of you). Nevertheless, this morning’s confirmation that the NSA and CIA have been aggregating and analyzing data from World of Warcraft, Xbox Live, and other services might give you pause.
From our past coverage, we’ve had comments from those that are outraged. We’ve also had people share that since they aren’t doing anything wrong, there isn’t a reason for concern.
Now that we have a better idea of how the United States government collects information in these games, will you be changing your habits? Let us know what you think of the news and what it means for how you’ll be gaming in the future.
Nope.
As someone who uses his real name whenever possible online, I really don't care if someone wants to listen in when I'm playing a game. I can't imagine them gleaning anything useful from watching me play games badly.
I don't do online games anyway. If they look at my gaming profile, all they'll see are trophies. The principle is bad, but the reality is overblown.
Its bullcrap and I don't want to be a metric for helping them in any way. That chart they showed was a "how can we brainwash and/or make money off gamers?" chart and I don't want any part of that.
i dnt agree with gov spyin in us but i will not change my habits since all im doing is stabbing templars, doing good for society actually...oh and visiting hyrule too
I'll probably just make one of those old fashioned Halo weapon pics.
"Screw off" has never looked prettier then when spelled in energy swords.
I won't change my gaming habits it's no big deal. However If I ever got a xbox one I don't think I would hook up the kinect I would feel someone is watching me lol.
I'll try to curse a lot more.
No.
*** the NSA.
not at all im not worried at all. whoever is worried about it needs to relax
Honestly it wont be changing anything for me. I already consider myself a "solo player" and when I do play multiplayer 85-90 percent of the time its local. Add to that I don't own a camera for any of my consoles and we currently have yet to make a decision about buying the XboxOne so things are staying the same for me.
Well I'll certainly be sure to mention bombs and names of government officials a lot more often. Oh, and I will always game in the nude and maybe try to learn some Arabic while I game
Death to Merikka.
No, I dont care.
