The BBC is bringing a free-to-play Doctor Who game to mobile devices later this week. Doctor Who Legacy will give players the opportunity to team up with companions and allies from the past two seasons.

The title is a puzzle-RPG, and appears to be designed in the spirit of Puzzle Quest. Additional content will be released, including material from season five. In the future, the title will explore more of The Doctor’s history.

The game is developed by Seed Studio and Tiny Rebel Games. Here’s hoping that this Doctor Who title fares better than other recent attempts.

Our Take
I’m a big fan of Doctor Who, and adored the recent Day of the Doctor. I’m sad to see Matt Smith about to leave the show, but have high hopes for what’s to come both on television and in interactive media.
