The lights are on
The PlayStation 4 launch is just a few days away, and last week I compulsively started cleaning my office. Don’t get me wrong, it definitely needed to be straightened up a bit, but the timing was suspicious.
I started thinking about past console launches and realized that I tidy up right before each one. I think about where the console will go in the entertainment center, brainstorm how best to keep as many components connected as possible, and rewire as necessary.
At that moment I realized that I ritualized console launches. We’re wondering if you have any habits or traditions that you do before bringing a new piece of technology into your game space.
If not, this cycle is a perfect time to start. You don’t really want to put new hardware on a dusty surface, do you?
I have never purchased a console on its launch day, but I have received most of them as gifts for Christmas during their launch window. As for a tradition, I usually go back and explore some of my favorite titles from the last generation and kind of just look at the boxes and remember the great (or bad) times I've had with them. Like for the Wii I played the Wind Waker on Gamecube and Melee for hours on end. Plus I had plenty of other Christmas shopping escapades. I don't know if this counts but if it does, then great!
I sit back and play games I have on the consoles I already own, and then hear other people praise/complain about what is on offer for their launch night.
A clean surface to put the console on, and I won't allow anyone to touch the controller without clean hands.
This is the first launch purchase for me. Definitely cleaning the designated ps4 spot. I might hug it when I unbox it, you never know what happens until it happens.
Basically clean the new area that new tech is going and parts of my domicile that I do not want to have to touch for days.
Make sure to wait a few months at least for all the bugs and problems to be worked out. Another ritual is waiting until more software is available.
No.
I sleep the entire preceding day,
other than wondering where i should put it when i hook it up , nope. its rough this time around tho! i moved recently so i have half as much furniture as being meaning no space for it at all ( wii u, ps3 , and genesis currently hooked up )
