The lights are on
Metal Gear Solid V will be releasing in two different installments, with the first due out this spring. Ground Zeroes will put players in the combat boots of Big Boss.
Interestingly, the press release from Konami refers to Big Boss as “the series’ hero.” The idea behind releasing Ground Zeroes as a standalone prequel is to ease players into the new control scheme and gameplay mechanics.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be priced at $29.99 retail and $19.99 digital for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions will be available digitally for $29.99.
Our TakeI’m still confused about the positioning of Metal Gear Solid V, especially now that Konami is suggesting that Big Boss is “the series’ hero.” Certainly he has been a protagonist in some of the titles, but most fans would consider Solid Snake the hero of the tale. I think there are more surprises coming, and that a lot of what we know is going to turn out to be misdirection seeded by series creator Hideo Kojima.
29.99. while thats certainly awesome it make me wonder about the qualty or the length of the Ground zeroes. I would be happy with at least 8 hours of play. we will see I guess
This is dumb...
How is it that confusing? The current-gen versions are $10 cheaper digital than the PS4/XO, and it has a retail version that's $30. Why doesn't the next-gen version have a retail though?...
That's kinda dumb having a price difference for retail and digital. I told myself that I wouldn't buy another new game digitally (after that GTA V fiasco), but if it means saving ten bucks...I may have to make an exception.
Wait what?! What's all this separate instalments shenanigans?? Are we getting half a game, what in the world is Kojima up to?.
But I guess I should be happy that there's a release window now.
kinda confusing...but, well...we'll wait for their announcement.
I have to wonder how long it is. The prequel/virtuous missing in the others have always been fairly short, no more than 2 hrs long. So $30 for 2-3hrs of gameplay would be a rip. Hopefully it's a decent sized game.
