The lights are on
This morning, we asked you how you feel about third-party exclusives. Sure, everyone knows that Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are going to publish games you can’t play elsewhere. Titanfall’s “life of the title” exclusivity caught some people off guard, though.
Here is a sample of your responses:
I think 3rd party exclusives are needed. It helps drive competition between consoles/companies. Yes gamers who can't afford all the systems may lose out on a few games, but having every game made for every platform requires a lot of work from a developer standpoint. Just like 1st party exclusives, I believe 3rd party exclusives do play a needed role. - Zachary Pligge
I think overall having exclusive 3rd party games is not something I like just because it can prevent people from playing some really good games. If a company pays for the exclusivity I can understand why developers would take the "sure" money compared to risking the game failing in the market. - Refle18
I don't really care either way, although it's a shame I won't be able to play Titanfall on my PS4. I'm sure I will have plenty of great games to play, if not even better than Titanfall. - Mike Presler
I love em if they are for the system I have. - sscroggin
Exclusives gives a console/handheld worth and special value.... Exclusives are a good thing. If someone feels jealously for not buying that console/handheld because of the exclusive they want, then that's sad. - Warrior
Third party titles make choosing between consoles easier so they're not absolutely horrible, but even with first-party exclusives, I wish I could just buy a system and play them all. - Spartacus
Sometimes I wish I had the other console for an exclusive or two, but then I realize that it is not that big of a deal and that there is still a chance I will be able to play it at some point. - Tombot7
Of course, most third-party titles are multiplatform. If you have more than one eligible platform, you have a decision to make. Where do you play most of your multi-platform games, and what factors influence your decision?
Do you enjoy all of your multiplayer gaming in one place? Do you simply hate having games with multiple discs? Do you switch up depending on which friends are playing a given title? Let us know in the comments!
I choose based on preference. If it is coming to all 3 consoles then I will get it for Wii U. If it comes to the other two then I will get it for PS4. Really the only thing I get for 360 as will be the case for Xbox One is exclusives.
While for me its a no brainer(I only have a Xbox 360,Wii,and my PC can only play games over 5 years old) however if I had to choose there are three things I would take into account. 1- Is it mainly a SP game or MP game? For this generation Microsoft has IMO crafted a better MP experience on the Xbox 360 than PS3 so multiplayer games I would pick to play on the 360. Single player games I would pick the PS3 for the slightly better graphics. 2- Is there any exclusive or timed exclusive content on a particular console? Exclusive stuff is nice and if I could get anything a little earlier on a Xbox 360 or visa versa then that would help sway me towards getting that version. 3- Which console plays the game better? Some games just play better on a particular console. My best example being Skyrim on the ps3 having more glitches than the 360 and PC and less support.
It's an easy decision for me: It's going to be on whichever version performs better and has the best content. Mission exclusives and less glitches (and in some cases the better patches) are going to be greater incentives for me to get the most out of my experience and at a lower cost if there's a possible discount like the Wii U's titles.
Friends but other than that there is no difference in the systems. The controller is one of my main reasons for sticking with xbox cuz ps controllers suck so much
I choose Xbox all the time for everything especially MP games bc there services are superb for online gaming and I only get things on my PS3 that are exclusives.
Sony because I enjoy gaming most on their systems. I only switch over to Microsoft if none of my sony friends have the game and my friends have it on xbox.
Where my friends are would be the most deciding answer to this question for me, but I've stuck with Xbox these past two gens. I like the controller much more for FPS and action games and that's mostly what I play, plus it seems that getting together with friends (especially multiple friends) is much easier on Xbox, and I do that often for games like CoD.
I also like the Xbox tiles and marketplace more than the PS online stuff. Not that PS's is bad compared to Xbox, I just prefer Xbox for my 3rd party titles.
I toss a coin using heads for Xbox and tails for PS3. Not having an Xbox complicates this process, but usually after more tosses I decide on PS3.
Earlier this generation, I always felt graphics were better on the PS3. Multiplayer-driven franchises usually find themselves in my 360 due to more friends being on Live than PSN. For those epic single player games, I usually waited for reviews to see if there were any issues, for example Skyrim on PS3 versus the 360. Also, for me, having the kinect being integrated into titles swayed some of my choices over to the 360 as well. And yes, it is a small piece of the puzzle, but for some reason I feel better about earning achievements over getting a trophy.
By looking at whatever system I currently own or whatever my friends are buying it on.
I play where my friends are they all own PS3's
Either by exclusive content or on what console it runs smoother.
Why are so many folks concerned about Titanfall not coming to PS4? I mean yeah it looks great and all, but with Destiny, I think that is going to be a killer app for the PS4 and keep folks happy for a while. Hang in there guys!!
sony for life...i did enjoy the 360 for a while for gears of war, but i'm a sony fan at heart...
I only have a PS3 and a 3DS, so if a game comes out on both of those, it's an easy decision for me--I get it for my PS3 so I can play it on my TV and not the tiny DS screen.
For me there are 5 factors 1. The controller 2. The online service (specifically for multiplayer) 3. Exclusive content in the game (Batman Arkham games, Assassins creed series etc) 4. Achievements 5. Availability
Everything I play is on PlayStation unless if its a Bethesda game, I play those on 360. My Wii(U) and 360 are used for exclusives.
