Assassin's Creed Movie "Definitely Happening" According To Lead Actor

An Assassin's Creed movie has been in the works for quite some time, but we haven't heard much about it since a writer was assigned, and a possible release date for the film appeared online. Recently, the movie's star, Michael Fassbender, offered a brief update on the film.

Speaking with The Daily Beast, Fassbender offered a few details on the film saying, "That’s definitely happening. We’re just developing the script at the moment." Fassbender also talked about his limited history with the game saying, "I’d heard of it but had never played the game. I don’t have a video game player … that’s not what they’re called. [Laughs] I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting—the idea of reliving memories."

We have our own ideas about what could make a good Assassin's Creed movie. Check them out here.

Our Take
It's disappointing to learn that Fassbender hasn't played any of the games, but he still seems like he could be a good fit for the Assassin's Creed universe. The narrative of the games always feel a little stretched to accomodate video game length and a much larger universe. I am interested to see how an Assassin's Creed film, which should be more focused by necessity, handles the plot.
