The lights are on
Plants vs. Zombies 2, the currently iOS exclusive free-to-play sequel to Plants vs. Zombies, has already been downloaded nearly 25 million times.
According to PopCap the game has already exceeded the downloads of the original game. It's unclear if this is comparing just downloads of the iOS version of the first Plants vs. Zombies, or all digital versions including Xbox Live Arcade, PC, etc.
PopCap released an infographic with some more statistics for Plants vs. Zombies 2, which you can check out below, or here.

Our TakeI'm not sure if this metric necessarily qualifies Plants vs. Zombies 2 as a huge success dwarfing the original. The game is obviously doing well, but it is free. I have a copy downloaded myself, but admittedly haven't even started playing it. I'd be more curious to know a comparison of monetary sales between Plants vs. Zombies and the sequel. In any case, 25 million downloads is nothing to scoff at. It's very impressive.

Awesome! Now make a version for Mac, or 360.
Thats cool. Now make it for droid so i can play!!!!!
That's great! Now the 3 year wait for it on Windows Phone!
And they could get millions of more downloads if they would put it on Android already.
Yes well it's a F2P title, so obviously it's going to generate more downloads... I don't understand the point of this infograph?
I wish they had a premium version available to skip the FTP model, but it doesn't seem too bad. I will be getting this when it hits Android.
and if you would make it android it would be more...
Pretty awesome for a game that doesn't need GI or other sites to have constant, agonizing filler headlines like, "Nintendo 3ds coming to U.S. in red", or "COD multiplayer info next week". Pretty awesome when a game can come out and says here, im pretty good, push play.
Awesome. I'm playing through it right now. Its definitely a fun little title, although I haven't once felt the need to actually pay for anything that they have to offer. Maybe I'll buy a shirt eventually as a way to show my appreciation.
Imagine how many more downloads they could of gotten if they released FOR EVERY FREAKING SYSTEM AND NOT JUST IOS!!! Grughsfsfksalj!!!
*Darth Vader voice* Impressive. Most impressive.
My goodness. What a feat for them.
It's a shame u have yet to play the game Kyle. It's a great game. Get on it!
People like free stuff, kids like plants that make zombies fart. Zombies are cool when used in good silly humor. Question is why is it that hard to make a PC/Android version is Apple paying them money to keep it or the publishers secret love with IOS/I-PAD that large now? 25million is alot but how many of the 25million have paid anything. Its nice but in the end it doesn't help the publishers unless the game was developed on shoe string budget and all money is basically profit to them.
