The lights are on
Considering how many hours we pour into video games, getting attached to the characters and world isn’t all that surprising. The most amazing part is how something so artificial can cause such a response, even getting into our psyche. Did having a child’s life in your hands make Heavy Rain terrify you? Were you overly protective over Clementine in The Walking Dead? Did Mass Effect’s finale cause you to tear up?
It’s time to fess up about the games that got under your skin. But please be mindful of spoilers and post a spoiler alert before you delve into specific moments.
I’ll fully admit, I cried my eyes out during the finale of The Walking Dead. And the devastating abruptness of The Last of Us’s opening stunned me. Also, saying goodbye to the Mass Effect universe that I’d grown so attached to brought mixed emotions. I knew that it always meant to be a trilogy and prepared myself to saying goodbye to the cast, but seeing my journey end was bittersweet.
Why do you think the games that got to you this generation did so? And what do you hope the next generation learns from them?

Watching Ezio come full circle with his life, especially if you've watched AC: Embers
I rarely cry for games and movies but I love when they work hard to develop emotional connections.
Valkyrie Chronicles
The opening of the Last of Us was just... Insane, from what I have done thus far in that game (About halfway), I can already name that the game that sparked the most emotion.
Borderlands 2: Tiny tina's assault on dragon keep made me cry.
***SPOILER**** A video game has not been able to make me full on bawl my eyes out yet, but the two that came the closest were during this generation. I definitely teared up a little at the end of The Walking Dead when you have to die to protect Clementine and, as embarrassing as this may be, I teared up a little bit during Gears of War 3 when Dom dies. Just everything he had been through throughout the series and to have it all come to an end like that was kind of relieving because he wouldn't have to suffer with the loss of his family anymore, but he was still basically your best friend throughout the game.
Mass Effect 2. The ending could have been better. Overall, loved the game; can't wait to get ME3.
SPOILERS:
I'd definitely agree with a lot of these titles including The Walking Dead, Mass Effect 3, and the last of us. I think one game that I felt was overlooked in this genre was Metal Gear Solid 4. The whole imminent end of Solid Snake (as the game insinuates that he'll soon die of rapid aging) as an integral defining character of so many generations struck a chord in me. The Deaths of some of the characters really stuck with me and admittedly made me cry along with the walking dead's death of Lee. I knew right when he got bit, that things weren't going to end well for lee. The closing moment when Clementine had to say her final goodbye to lee really saddened me and made me cry as well. Being with this character for so long into the story really hurt me as an individual. You really wanted to see him make it out of the story and to find out that lee dies especially leaving the so young and impressionable clementine without a trustworthy and reliable mentor and guardian to be guided throughout the tragic incident really made you feel for clementine as well.
Mass Effects, Walking Dead, Uncharteds, Shadow Complex
To the Moon.
Chief rescuing Cortana from the Gravemind in Halo 3 was amazing.

Tiny Tina's Dragon Keep adventure was the most recent. Surprisingly touching.
I full on bawled at the end of AC: Revelations.
"Wake me when you need me."
The Walking Dead for sure.. and The Last Of Us plus Bioshock Infinite!!
I was pretty depressed at the end of Half Life 2: Ep 2
