Game & Wario Lands Release Date, New Dual-Screen Minigames

Wii U owners won't have to wait long to get their hands on Game & Wario. During today's Nintendo Direct video stream, Nintendo announced the game is scheduled to release on June 23 for $39.99.

Three new minigames, all designed to use the TV screen and gamepad in different ways, were also shown. The first is called Island (pictured above). In this game, players must use the gamepad to slingshot creatures called Fronks toward a spherical island surrounded by water. The island is divided into scoring zones. Where your Fronks land, determines your score.

The second game, Patch Work, is a puzzle-assembly game starring the Ninja Twins. The goal is to line up puzzle pieces on the two screens to create images. Two that were shown were of a horse and Mario.

The last minigame shown is Kung Fu, which NIntendo describes as a unique motion controlled split-perspective puzzle platformer. On the TV screen, it looks like a typical 3D platformer, with the camera following the character. On the gamepad, you see the same action from a top-down perspective, giving you a better idea of where the character is landing. The goal is to navigate platforms while collecting dumplings.
