In anticipation of the reveal and eventual release of the next Xbox, we want to know what Xbox owners think about Microsoft’s consoles.
It seems like only yesterday that Microsoft was taking a gamble by challenging giants Sony and Nintendo with a new console of its own, and now the company is a success in the market and preparing to release the third iteration of the Xbox.
Have you owned the Xbox or Xbox 360? Please take a moment and click on the link below to take a quick survey (some questions may require answers to proceed), the results of which will be used in a future issue of the magazine.
Thank You.
The Game Informer Xbox Survey
Email the author Matthew Kato, or follow on Twitter, and Game Informer.
That survey could've been a lot more robust.
For instance, a question about what we hope for in the next Xbox and what we actually expect from it would be nice.
Because I expect it to be far less "core gamer" focused, and for it to be widely focused on a wide casual user (as in, largely non-gamer) demographic what with it's purported cable box use, heavy Kinect integration, and Microsoft's past few years of increasing focus on apps and "features" over exclusive gaming experiences.
HOW CAN MICROSOFT GET ME TO BUY THE NEXT XBOX?:
- Eliminate gold subscription. I refuse to pay this fee in the future. I had a subscription for about 3 or 4 years and that was solely to play with friends. I never found out if I got anything else out of it and I really don't think that service is worth anything at all. So being able to play with friends should definately be free.
- Make sure to get more exclusives. And I don't mean Arcade-games; as I find these no more than fancy phone-games. I want triple-A quality exclusives.
- Open up to developers, so it will be easier for them to transfer a playable version of their PC-game, for example, to the console.
And that's basically it. Right now I have Little faith in Microsoft as I'm pretty convinced they will still charge for any kind of Live-subscription. And as I have no interest in various non-game applications that I might gain access to through said subscription, I find that fee utterly ridiculous.
I will never, for any reason, purchase another xbox console. I bought one the day I graduated boot camp (a 360 in 2006) and it red ringed 2 years later. Bought one from a friend, it red ringed a few months later. Couple that with no first party games worth mention, and a cold, corporate, soul-less corporation that wants every $ it can get
-built like ***
-pay to play online
-no first party games
-Almost made me lose interest in gaming altogether, since every *** cover has a muscle headed gun wielder on it.
*** YOU XBOX, BURN IN HELL, EAT ***, DIE, STEP OUT OF THE GAMING BUSINESS NOW, YOU *** HEADED *** SUCKERS.
The only reason I'm not going to get a next-gen console this time around is because my wife and I are going next-gen ourselves (we're having a baby!) And we'll raise little Odin to just see video games for what they are, not who makes them. I have a dream, that one day all consoles and all pc's can all be played equally, without prejudice, in the same household. They'll not be judged by name alone, but by the quality of their experiences offered...
But back to the article, I really like my Xboxes. We've never had a single problem.
Survey done.
I wish I Surveyed
Seems like I've been lucky since my 360 of 3+ years never red ringed.
