The lights are on
Winners have been chosen!
Congratulations to Azaiatavin, TheBritishness, and Starbucknessmonster. Check for messages and get back to us with the info we requested. Thanks to all that entered.
As you might have heard, a few of us have been defending the San Francisco Bay Area (circa 2046) from mutants, raiders, and our favorite critters, the hellbugs. We've got two different contests to tell you about that will help you get into both the game and the show.
Trion Worlds and SyFy Channel have announced a new contest that will see an intrepid Ark Hunter rendered in an upcoming episode of Defiance. Trion and SyFy are being cryptic about how and where the winner will be featured, but it's very clearly not a walk-on role.
In order to enter, players must enter a special code into their account (code and instructions here), complete a player-vs-enemy and a player-vs-player "pursuit" (in-game goal set), and work to accumulate the most battle-won salvage. Full instructions are available on the official page, and the press release is on page two of this story.
Of course, you need to play the game in order to have an opportunity to win your appearance. We've got three copies of the Ultimate Edition of the game (which comes with a messenger bag, hellbug statue, art book, in-game perks and currency, and a one-year season pass. We've got one copy for each platform (PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3).
In order to win, tell us why you should win a copy of the game and how you're going to become the best ark hunter you can be. Leave a comment below, and be sure to note which platform you'd prefer. The drawing will end tomorrow, Wednesday May 1, at 5 PM Central.
I was thrilled when I first beta tested defiance. It was incredible even with all the bugs and game-crashing glitches (just like Bethesda usually is) and I resolved to pre-order and purchase the game the day it came out, but fate was not so kind. What's that saying again, while man makes plans god laughs? I go to college full time so I have no job to make the necessary money and as such i resigned myself to live without it (if you can call that living). That was until a friend sent me a link to this article. Now I don't usually enter these types of things, but this is a special case. There's an enormous amount of things I want to do in the game thanks to my friend who keeps me constantly updated about his in-game progress to the point where it's almost annoying. The lack of my own copy of it prevents me from showing up and kicking the shtako out of him in pvp (many, many times). Mild frustrations aside, a PC version of the game sent to me would provide Defiance with an already experienced ark hunter as well as a serious candidate to get their avatar on the show; I fully intend to no-life for that sole purpose during the event period and I seriously doubt I'm alone in that. Just in case it wasn't clear or you don't feel like reading the whole comment-
I'd really, truly, seriously, honestly appreciate a PC copy of Defiance please. :)
I would love to be an Ark Hunter like Nolan, adventuring through San Francisco in the year 2046. I'd chase fallen ships and fight alien bad guys like there is no tomorrow. Unfortunately that is beyond my means currently, and likely will be for the foreseeable future. I live on a fixed income, from disability, and can't afford games like this, even though I'd love to play them. I love how the world of Defiance is so developed, it seems like it's alive. I can only hope that my plea to have a copy for my XBox doesn't fall upon deaf ears, so that I may be the best Ark Hunter ever!
I know I am not worthy to win. I am just a lonely cyborg who is not worthy of anything. If for some reason you allow me to have the Defiance Ultimate Edition for the PS3 I will become the greatest ark hunter in the universe (and beyond the universe). I won't stop till I am! I will spend the rest of my life learning all the ways of an ark hunter.
Please,GameInformer. Let me do this for you.
Just got a new gaming computer with money I saved with smart spending at college...tuition would have been a better buy, but this PC is an investment that cannot get flushed down the toilet. I love watching the SyFy channel. Even the cheesy movies make me laugh. Defiance is probably the best television series to appear on the SyFy channel and being able to play the game would mean the world to me. God I am such a nerd...but a proud one!
If I do win I'd like the PS3 version.
I'd probably use stealth to be an Ark Hunter.
How DEFIANCE has ruined my life... in a good way!
I was never one for multi-player, ever! I found it tedious to drag along someone else unless it was an old school beat 'em up, but this game allows me to jump right in and literally choose whether or not to help somebody out or be a total *** and walk away. This game has sucked my will to live in that there is quite literally nothing else I play... one more mission, one more side quest, so on and so forth. I mean I spent a day blowing all my hard earned scrip trying to get past the golden gate monolith outside of the story line!! New guns, new rollers, lining up the perfect head shot (I could make a JFK reference here but it would be in poor taste), shoving that overpowered modded out shotgun into the enemy's face just spools the biggest grin on mine!
Between seeing the sights and jumping off of ridiculous heights, whether on or off a roller, I have (*ahem*) marked my territory everywhere. Shoot, I think it took me almost a week to notice that I could honk my roller's horn and use the boost button and once I found out those things the inner "duke's of hazzard' reared his maniacal head and seeing from what new atrocious outcropping I could gank off of and wipe out hellbugs like going 90 down the real life interstate and splatting one on the windshield! So if you cannot tell by now, a game I didn't even really wanna give a chance (I originally bought it for my son) has taken over my life and is dancing behind my eyelids as I sleep and folks trying to hold a conversation with me have begun to notice my attention drifting off as though my concentration is else where and it is true, Defiance is where it lies...
Please let me know when the first Defiance AA meeting is or intervention because this ark-hunter is in it until the day he is on his knees raising his hands to the heavens in the best darth vader knock off 'NOOOOOOOO' when they finally pull the plug on the defiance servers. The ps3 copy was made for me on a subatomic level eons ago, so please continue to feed my addiction as I go pace the floor awaiting the latest defiance patch to install before I satiate today's required playtime.
First of all, Defiance came out on my birthday and I had to cancel my Pre-order to replace my Xbox 360. The original finally crapped out on me.
Oh, kind and "Benevolent" GameInformer Staff, Would you Kindly (Kill Andrew Ryan(Opps, wrong reference)) grant me an Xbox 360 copy so I can experience the Ark Hunting story.
I would love to win a ps3 copy of this game. I've followed it since it was announced, and dutifully put in the ark codes as they were released, hoping I would have the spare cash to buy the game when it released. Sadly that has not been the case, and my work has so far been for nothing. I've never been a PC gamer, so I've missed out on great MMOs, and I was hoping this would change that.
I should win becase, well, I weep salty tears at the thought of hunting for McGubbins on my Xbox 360 with my friends. This would be my first MMO and the pure greatness of playing a game that lines up with my favorite new show makes my head want to leap off of my neck and go find a friend to listen to "Endless Love" in the dark with. As for how I would become the best Ark Hunter, I would grind while listening to my favorite podcasts, GI Show and Twighlight Highlight Zone. Please consider my humble request for the Xbox 360 Version.
i should win defiance for xbox 360 because i have a time machine i'd let you guys use.
note: my time machine only goes forward in time and at regular speed, but still TIME TRAVEL!!!
I would be the best Ark Hunter on PS3 because I know that it's not about the money, it's about the pride.
GameInformer,
My friends have been playing this game for weeks now and I have not been able to buy it! Everyday I walk into work and they are talking about how awesome their squad is and that I need to join! I will join the most B.A. squad and wreck havoc on other Ark hunters!
Please send me the game and I promise when I make it on the show, I will give all the credit to G.I.!
Xbox 360 version please!
I was planning to buy a XBOX copy possibly this weekend this may save me some money
I'm in law school and I need a good break once in a while, but I spend just about all day every day at school, so breaks are few and far between. I'd like a copy on the PC because then I could play in the library while I take breaks at school.
