The lights are on
Hammerpoint's online multiplayer zombie survival game is out of beta, and now available on Steam. According to Hammerpoint's press release, The War Z has over 600,000 registered users, and usually logs 150,000 unique players per day.
The game had been previously available on a beta, but this version on Steam is being called a "Foundation Release" -- which means that it's improved over the beta but will still be added to and enhanced in the months to come.
There are three price tiers of The War Z available on the game's Steam page. The basic game is currently on (slight) sale for $13.49, and the $22.49 and $44.99 nab you 2100 or 7500 in-game gold credits, respectively, along with the game.
According to this forum post (via PC Gamer), people who have already purchased the game will get a serial key that will allow you to convert your current account to a Steam version of The War Z. You will then get Steam Achievements and be able to use your Steam wallet to purchase in-game gold credits.
