The lights are on
CBS films announced Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) is directing the upcoming Deus Ex film based on the game.
"Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence,” Derrickson said in a statement. “By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie."
Deus Ex: Human Revolution will serve as the primary template for the film, CBS says.
As a huge Deus Ex fan, i have my doubts. Those are horror films? Correct? fuuuu..
After I played this game, my first thought was actually what an awesome film it would make. All hope that this ushers in a new glorious harmony between Hollywood and video games. Or I'll just settle for one good Deus Ex movie!
if eidos and square enix can keep a tight reign on what the studio and director has leeway to do, then maybe it will work out.
i will keep my hopes low until i see the finished product.
it could be benefit cbs to make the 1st amazing, as this could be a really great franchise.
one can only hope.
:)
I loved this game so much. The story and gameplay are the best in my collection to date. I can't wait for this movie to show it first trailer.
So many video-game movie projects going around these days. Hope they can turn out decent.
Finally, now they can continue the game. Probably it will be in E3 2013.
I hated the Exorcism of Emily Rose.
Basing things on Human Revolution is smart, and both Sinister and Emily Rose were great horror movies. I don't really see how horror movies give you experience to tackle something like this though... but I'm hopeful. Right now, I want to know who wrote this thing though. A great screenplay is going to be key here. Also, a decent budget. It doesn't need $220 million or anything, but it needs to look at least as good as... say, District 9?
Hoping for the best. I'm way more looking forward to this than, say, that dumb Assassin's Creed movie.
Has quite the pedigree...
I m curious to see if they will be able to pull this off, i pray to God they dnt do it like the directors of Dragonball Z the movie, biggest disappointment ever
I'd defiantly go see a deus ex movie
Don't screw it up.
Didn't hear about this movie and I am not excited for it.
Excited but skeptical
Very cool. I am mildly excited for this. I do have high hopes that it'll turn out great.
Please don't screw this up.
I'd probably see it.
