Update: RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Coming To PC Later This Year

Update: Fans of the series have made their displeasure about RollerCoaster Tycoon 4's mobile launch known. The developer has responded via Facebook, reassuring fans that RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 is coming to PC later this year.

The Facebook post says "RollerCoaster Tycoon is back and it's coming to mobile (first)! Rest assured, there is a PC experience in production now for release in Fall 2014. This is just the first step in bringing the series back to its fans this year! We are excited and hope you are too!"

Original Story: For the first time in almost a decade, RollerCoaster Tycoon is getting a new numbered entry in the franchise. But rather than being on PC like previous installments, RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile will be coming to iOS devices later this year, a first for the series.

The game's debut trailer is sparse on details, but it gives a glimpse of the game's visuals and promises players will be able to share their parks. Players will also be able to visit the parks of their friends as they climb the online leaderboards. RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile is being created by mobile-focused On5 Games.

  • SOOOOOOOOOOO excited! I used to LOVE the first two RCT's and this one looks very similar! And it'll be on PC AND mobile? SWEEEEEEEEEEET!!!

  • YES!!!!! It's been too long!

  • Whoever decided this was a good idea (Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 for Moblie) should be force-fed hot coals, have a handful of black-widow spiders shoved up their ass, and then be tossed into the Grand Canyon

  • I loved playing RCT at my friend's house back in the day. I could make some bad ass coasters. Not sure if my computer has the balls to run any game.

  • Aw man, I used to play RC all the time.

  • If you wanna play Roller Coaster Tycoon just buy it from Gog.com for like five or six dollars, don't waste your time with a mobile game.
  • It's interesting that they are going back to the isometric art style, it makes me curious to know what features they have cut out or kept from the previous games. I kind of wish they continued where they left off from 3 because it added so many features that could be improved so much further

  • I used to play this game a lot. I wish it was on xbox one.

  • I still have my RCT3: Gold Edition from way back. I'll pick this up on PC. I'm sure the mobile version will be free and filled with micro-transactions. I can see it now: "Buy the next roller coaster for only $2.00!"
  • Nice, this update made my day. I have been playing theme park management sims since...well...Theme Park.

  • All these years and they didn't think to update the damn framerate of the game

  • they better make a full on sequel and not go the micro-transaction route. Even a reboot of RCT2 with added spice would suffice for me. I get that Atari is hurting financially, but that doesn't mean they should exploit a classic series to get back up on their feet. Hopefully they make the right choice with the PC version...

  • And disappointment in 3...2...1

This looks like a load of sh*t tbh. I hate judging a game based off a short trailer, but the simple fact that it's mobile says all you need to know. And that's Atari just wasted money.

  • My kids and I played the crap out of roller coaster tycoon when it first came out. Hope this new stands up.
