The lights are on
Tonight, Game Freak unveiled a new feature for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire that will let players manage their own area that other players can visit and compete in, effectively giving players their own gym.
Officially, this new feature is called a Secret Base, but players can set up traps and mazes that visiting players will have to overcome. In The Pokémon Company's press release for the new feature, it says players can transform their Secret Bases into their own Pokémon gyms.
Alongside decoration customization options, players can also collect flags from others' bases, make Secret Pals friendships with other players, exchange special skills, and much more.

I hope the Secret Base will be more forgiving in design. I remember always coming across ones with awkward angles and holes.
Ay dios mio! me chiquivine
HNNNNGGGGG GIMME GIMME GIMME
This was part of the original Ruby/Sapphire. Like, this exact feature. Secret bases, decorations, 'gym battles', all of it. I'm glad they're bringing it back, and street pass might make it something actually useful, but this certainly isn't anything new.
This sounds amazing.
Well secret bases aren't "new" for pokemon. Ruby and Sapphire introduced them although adding the creating your own gym is, and I think that is really interesting.
Time to farm high level pokemon, levelling is gonna be so much easier now.
That sounds cool.
Why they didn't continue the secret base after Emerald is beyond me.
looks like some hoarder made them screenshots.
This was a lot of fun in the older games, so I can't wait to make all sorts of horrible new traps for people
I'm so glad to hear they're bringing this feature back. Sounds like it'll have a lot of added functionality this time around. Can't wait to set some traps!
Awesome! Just preordered this.
