Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars

An RPG About Making Magical Babies

Atlus USA is working on bringing an RPG called Conception II to North American shores. The title casts the player as the “God’s Gift.” By undergoing the “classmating” ritual with female classmates, the player will create Star Children, which are used to battle monsters in the game’s labyrinth.

Additionally, strengthening bonds with the female partners enhances their abilities in dungeons. The title sounds like a cross between Persona’s social links and Pokemon’s minion-based combat (if you actually made the pocket monsters yourself instead of capturing them).

Conception II is coming in Spring 2014, and it will be getting a first-run special edition. This version comes with a special box and 10-track audio CD. Both the 3DS and Vita versions will retail for $39.99.

  • Boy people going nuts over nothing. I played the demo and I can't wait for this game!
  • You think this sounds bad?  You should play Pokemon.  Breeding in Pokemon all takes place at a daycare center and the goal of breeding is to make perfect Pokemon and discarding the rest; or in other words, eugenics.  That sounds awfully familiar to a certain group of people in WW2 that spoke German...  Oh and Ditto is the class whore who does it with anyone.

  • So what I found out by reading these comments is that western gamers think relationships are gross and offensive.

Honestly I don't see how a game about fostering relationships and then using magic to create monsters together is anymore offensive than a particularly po***r series about children who capture wild animals and then force them to fight each other for money.

I guess gamers never stopped being afraid of cooties.

  • This sounds like a very awesome idea.

  • Okay, well... I don't have any interest in this, because it's a dating sim. Otherwise, it's debatable. What are 'Star Children'? Are they monsters? Or some sort of deity? What are we talking about? Actual children, no matter how gifted, might be a bit too much... I also don't really like the implications that they're your 'minions' and that you 'battle' them in a 'labyrinth'. I'm not really sure where everyone is getting underage from. This is probably some sort of academy, no reason these characters couldn't be late teens, early twenties. Sure, some of them look young, but... Anime.
  • This sounds fun! I'll be certain to get a Vita before it comes out so I can play this game. Atlus has never done me wrong with an RPG, so I trust them a lot more than certain other companies.
  • uh... interesting? Also, you can make pokemon yourself rather than capturing them in the wild by way of the pokemon day care lol
  • You mean pregnant female partners or born from something like "Social Links" from Persona series.

  • "Yeah, we won't make Mega Man Legends 3 because we don't perceive a market for it, but howsabout '16 and Pregnant: The Game?'" -------- Japanese Gaming Industry "Classmating" sounds hilarious, though. Too bad the game isn't focused more on the lols than on the lolis.....
  • So they made a dating sim with a combat rpg mechanic and are selling it state side.

  • i remember reading about this before pretty funny lol

  • Well...now I feel strangely compelled to play this, lol

  • Couldn't stop laughing after reading the article. I applaud the devs for making a realistic concept in a very nonsensical fashion. If I got the story right, you go banging highschool girls and then toss the ***s into the cold harsh world.

Is... playboy associated with this game or something?

  • Fire Emblem Awakening had an extremely similar mechanic yet people are looking at this like it's the weirdest thing ever. I don't get it.
  • Since its being made by Atlus I AM playing this. Cough....Catherine....cough...Shin Megami...
  • The idea of a cross between Persona's social links and Pokemon's battles is like some sort of beautiful golden dream game but...does it have to come from having sex with your classmates?

  • "Classmating" - so that's what the kids are calling it these days. Seriously though, if your own star children can't be used to battle monsters in a labyrinth, what good are they?
  • Sounds so weird I might actually buy it.

  • sold!

  • I'm going to get this game just to see how strange it is.
