Woot, I am now a 7.5 mile man! My watch went stupid, but near as I can figure it, I managed it in an 1'10''.
Cool beans, man. Right now I'm just trying to cut down on my mile time.
Well, whatever distance you're speed running, you should be able to jog at least twice as much. Maybe triple.
That said, my suggestion is to run as fast as you can stand for a quarter mile of this length, then slow down to your base jog for the next. It's something I found on the internet, and it works. But you should consider this stamina training as well, and do it everyday.
Sorry if you weren't asking for advice there, Jon, little loopy after a run like that.
Anywho, went running today, but my knee still hurts from monday & tues, so only managed 2 miles. Hopefully, the weekend will be enough to heal it.
That's really bad ass bro
@thatfoxguy
Thanks man.
Anyways, Did 22 miles this week in preparation for the marathon, compared to my usual ten. I'm gonna take it slightly easy this week and do 15, 2 days at 2.5 miles, 2 days at 5. Maybe pull a another 7.5 friday just to make sure I'm good to go.
Contest week-
day1- 5 miles
2- 7.5
3- 10
The idea is a slow buildup, followed by a slow decline, doing the most miles in the middle of the contest, to try and prevent undue stress. This is the third time in my life I've ran miles in the double digits. And although I don't feel so hot, I definitely feel better than the last two times. I'm getting better at this. If I can pull off 7.5 miles tomorrow, I'm positive I'll make my 40 mile goal. Maybe even do a little extra and snag Keyes' record!
Day 4- 7.5
5- 5
6- 5[7.5!]
Alright, I've finally decided to bite the bullet and up my daily to 5 miles. It'll be tough, but that's what we're here for.
