The lights are on
EA has not been shy about how they want Battlefield 3 to compete with
Activision's behemoth Call of Duty franchise. Can they hope to pull this
off? Reiner and I dive in to DICE's tense shooter to find out.
How good does a game have to be to deserve this much praise? Let us show
We're joined by Motion City Soundtrack lead singer Justin Pierre for a look at id's new shooter.
We're joined by Reckoning's lead designer in this whirlwind tour of everything the giant open-world RPG has to offer.
A couple of years ago Demon's Souls got a ton of hype for being
incredibly difficult. Could its spiritual successor, Dark Souls,
actually be harder? I called Reiner down to the recording room to show
off a section slightly later in the game that may be one of the most
deviously designed levels in any game ever.
With the release of Gears of War 3 this week, the big holiday release
season kicks off in earnest. We're celebrating the only way we know how:
By playing some Gears 3 and forcing you to listen to us talk over the
Most of the time that Reiner and I show off games in these videos, one
or both of us have had some time to play it off-camera. With Space
Marine, the latest video game release in the popular Warhammer 40,000
sci-fi universe, that is not the case. We got our retail copy in the
office and decided to roll into recording this video completely fresh.
On this episode of Reiner and Phil, Reiner sweeps me away for a romantic
tropical vacation that is quickly interrupted by hordes of zombies and a
whole bunch of deaths.
GI's very own dynamic duo has been on a bit of a break due to my
traveling and Reiner getting lost in a desert. But now we're back (if
slightly sunburned), and to celebrate we're checking out the release
that's kicking off the flood of 2012 games: Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Ben and I spent last week hanging out with the real Captain America at
Comic-Con. This week, we're back in the office and taking a look at the
new Captain America video game from Sega along with Reiner. What starts
as a discussion of Cap and his recent him turns into a wide-ranging talk
about superhero movies in general.
Reiner and I decided to celebrate the 4th of July the only way we know
how: By playing a weird, colorful Japanese video game. Welcome to El
We're a bit late on this one because I was on vacation, but both Reiner and I really liked
Shadows of the Damned, the quirky third-person shooter from Resident
Evil mastermind Shinji Mikami and No More Heroes creator Suda51. Since
we both like it so much, we couldn't help but record a video sharing it
with all of you.
