I'm a gamer, but neither Hardcore or Casual. Somewhere in between. Yeah, that's it. In my life, what I've lacked in the will to play sports or, say, study and do homework...I've more than made up for in playing games. Sad? Well, it's how I look at it that's important to me, obviously. There are two different categories of video games in my mind: the mindless and the thoughtful. Games such as Madden Football and other sports titles fall into the mindless category, while Role Playing Games and in-depth story driven titles are more thoughtful. I'm not attempting to bash the sports genre in any way, I just think you get more out of games that don't require button mashing or replicating competitions that you are probably better off actually participating in physically.
For this reason, my favorite titles include the Final Fantasy series, the Metal Gear Solid series, the Legend of Zelda, and Uncharted. All of these have ongoing, meaningful stories attached to brilliant gameplay. I've owned many consoles over the years, but currently I'd have to say that I stick with Sony. I am no fanboy by any means, my roommate has an Xbox 360 and I have access to it. However, the PlayStation 3 won in the end for me due to what it has to offer over the 360. It was also the logical step-up from the PS2, and PS1.
