  • Ranking Assassin's Creed Before Unity

    4 1

The Assassin's Creed series is about to take its first real step into the future of gaming with the release of Assassin's Creed Unity exclusively on next gen consoles. I have a lot of love for the series, so I decided I wanted to share my thoughts on all six of the main games released thus far.

  • The Power Of RPG Sequels

    4

Over the last few weeks I have been playing a handful of RPG sequels. RPGs are one of my favorite genres because of their heavy emphasis on character and world development. Since they focus a much larger percentage of time on story elements, and also because they are some of the longest video games to finish (let alone to 100% complete), I often find myself more attached to the characters, lore and worlds of RPGs than other video games.

  • The DLC Characters I Want in Smash Bros 4

    7

I'm incredibly excited for the latest Super Smash Bros games arriving on the 3DS and Wii U this year. Every weeknight I've been following the Super Smash Bros Pic of the Day and the discussions about it across the internet. Now that the 3DS game is coming out in America I'm really excited to look towards the future and start imagining the DLC for the two games. Nintendo has been aggressive about putting DLC in its biggest franchises and it appears Smash Bros 4 will be no different. Already there is a day one patch for the 3DS version in Japan that adds Conquest mode to the game.

  • Destiny Is An Odd Game At Launch

    3

Between the Alpha, Beta, and launch, I've played a lot of Destiny. While I was once a Destiny skeptic, I knew I would be buying it day one after I played the Alpha. As it currently stands, Destiny is a very strange game. The Destiny we have right now has a lot of good things going for it, but it also has some significant shortcomings especially for a game and franchise that is supposed to last ten years. I wanted to share with you some of my thoughts on some key elements of the game because there really isn't a simple answer for most subjects.

  • Speculating the Role of Amiibos in Mario Kart 8

    4

    More
Mario Kart 8's DLC is truly an awesome deal. I didn't expect it would be the kind of dream content I've always wanted in Mario Kart especially for an unbelievably good price. Now that we know what the DLC is, the final piece of the Mario Kart... More
  • The Vita Isn't Dead in 2014

    5

At both Sony's E3 and Gamescom press conferences this year, the Playstation Vita was entirely ignored on stage. While this lack of attention has been severely disappointing (especially alongside other missteps like the false Final Fantasy Type-0 HD announcement), the truth is that the Vita lineup for the rest of the year is the strongest it has ever been.

  • The Games I Played at San Diego Comic Con 2014

    2

For the second year in a row I went to San Diego Comic Con ticketless and I had an absolute blast. You can spend an entire day at the convention without a ticket and still not even come close to doing everything available. Like last year, I spent a significant amount of my time at Comic Con playing some of the video games that are available to the public. This year I got to play seven games and I wanted to share my thoughts about playing each one.

  • My Top 10 Favorite Games of 2013

    6

I'm excited to finally be able to share my top 10 favorite games of 2013 blog. As in my previous favorite games of the year blogs, I chose the games that resonated with me the most rather than trying to determine which games were necessarily the best. My only rule for my list is that I had to have finished the game in order for it to be eligible. This year I'm confident I finished all of the games that could have been top 10 contenders for me, so nothing was left off that might have made it. I did have a tough time with the ordering of my list this year because it was really tricky comparing each game. Although I feel good about my final ordering, I found all of the games were really great for very different reasons and all of them are must plays.

I'm excited to present the third edition of my Quick Reviews blog series. There was a ton of really excellent games released in the last three months and so I'm eager to share my thoughts on the ones I got to play. As such I'm just going to get right into it.

  • Quick Reviews (April-June 2013)

    4

At the beginning of April I wrote a blog covering my thoughts about all the games I played from the first three months of the year. I'm excited to bring you the second edition of my Quick Reviews blog series that covers the games released from April through June. I think the format of the first edition worked really well so I'm going to continue with it for the second edition. I hope you enjoy it.

  • Quick Reviews (January-March 2013)

    7

The first three months of this year were pretty incredible for video games. I really wanted to write a blog discussing this topic and the best way I thought of was to briefly discuss my thoughts on some of the biggest games released. I don’t get to play every big game that comes out, but I do play a wide range of games so there should be something here for everyone.

  • My Top 10 Favorite Games of 2012

    2

2012 was an odd year for gaming. It lacked the excitement of 2011 as next gen consoles loomed in the distance and many of the most promising games were pushed back to 2013. Additionally, many of the AAA games that people were excited for such as Mass Effect 3, Assassin's Creed III and Resident Evil 6 proved extremely divisive. Despite the sense of doom and gloom on these fronts, 2012 was still a good year for gaming as many other games both big and small confidently filled in the gaps left by the AAA market.
