The lights are on
At first I was unsure how this game would come out since I had never played a western before, but Rockstar has pulled it off. This game has made it into my favorites, probably top 5, and beats the GTAs. The story is captivating, deep, and perfectly told. I spent about 19 hours doing the story and side missions. It give the player connetivity with the main character (John Marston). Asassin's Creed should follow the controls and feel of horses this game gives. It also gives you your own horse, which gives the player more of a conection. I would go back missions if I had to in the game if my horse died (shot, fell off cliff, malled by cougars, bears, etc.). The shootouts are epic (I highly recomend turning off the auto-aim) and capture the western element. I love shooting and watching people fall off their horses. The game offers many things to do such as gambling (I spent a good amount of time playing Texas Hold'em), hunting, bounties, horsebreaking, night watches, side quests, and more. The story is awesome and i was sad when when i left the house, it has shocks and twists which keep you greatly interested. I havnt even checked out the multiplayer yet (going to do it right now) because i was so addicted to the story. This game is near perfect, there isnt really anything i can think of thats wrong with it. I cant wait for the DLC that is sure to be coming. I highly recomend this game and it will make you fall in love with the western genre.
God Of War III blew my mind. It is one of if not my favorite game. The combat was flawless, the graphics were excellent, and Kratos is as angry as ever. The game wraps up the series very nicely, and the story is great. I dont really understand the complaints about the story, i didnt see anything wrong with it. If you are planning on buying this game i highly recomend playing the first, you will understand a lot more, for it makes a lot of references to the earlier games. Buy the God Of War Collection, i bought it before GOW3 came out and it works great on the PS3.
When i first heard about MAG, i was excited. 256 players, what's not to love? But, teamwork is a huge part of this game, and many if not most players, go back to their call of duty roots and play as an individual. The graphics are decent and in my opinion, the players are the only downfall of this game. Sometimes as a squadleader you feel as if you have no power, many players keep doing their own thing, which is very frustrating and gives you the desire to cuss them out on the headset. The controls are solid. Sound is great and makes you feel like you are in a battle. Slightly customizable characters is a plus. The levels of rank are great except when none of your team is listening. A good thing about this game is that it is all about winning. You gain pride in your faction. No one gives a crap what your kill ratio is. Nothing that is wrong in this game is the developers fault, the gaming community is to blame.
BIOSHOCK 2 is a fantastic game, and i dont believe it gets the appreciation it should. Admittedly the first BIOSHOCK was a spectacular game, and would probably be impossible to surpass. But BIOSHOCK 2 is a great addition to the series. Many of the accusations in the gameinformer review i believe are based on false judgements. For example, Reiner stated that until the final couple hours, you do not have the feeling of a Big Daddy. You are not supposed to be as tough as the other Big Daddies, you are one the first, the others are later versions with many refinements. Even when you fight other Alpha Series Big Daddies, you can tell they are not as tough as the others. It is true that Rapture is not as enthralling as in the first BIOSHOCK, which is to be expected being the second game. But, that may go well with the gameplay, because your character is not new in Rapture, unlike Jack in the first. Reiner implied that the biggest decisions that you make are saving or harvestng little sisters. That is not true, you also decide whether or not to have revenge on other characters that give you trouble during the game, affecting the ending. I believe there is a total of six different endings, though some have little but signifigant difference. What your ending is can hit close to heart. The story is admittedly as good as Jack's in the first, which is hard to top. The game still has a very good story though. Throughout the game you gain information on what you are and how you and Eleanor (your original little sister) are tied. I was out with friends one weekend after spending probably about five hours on the game, and throughout the weekend though I was having a lot of fun, I was dieing inside, part of me wanting to go home and continue playing untill i beat it.
