The lights are on
When I found out that my local Gamestop wasn't doing the midnight release for Bioshock 2, I was a bit disappointed. Regardless, I tried looking on the bright side by reading the review. After the reading the claims that it had a fair amount of issues, I was a little upset. I started debating whether or not I should pick up my Special Edition or leaving it to rack up store credit. That idea was very fleeting as I did what any other loyal franchise fan would do- keep my spirits up. The day it came out, I had picked it up before class, awaited playing it, then rushed home. Within minutes of playing, not only did I formulate my own solid opinion, I also banished my prior memory of the review GI did. The problems Reiner had with the game occured to me as things that were natural. I started it out on Hard and I immediately felt powerful... but unstable whch I feel is expected since you play as the first Big Daddy. Every moment of the game has me intrigued and excited to see what's next... and sometimes hesitant, therefor implying that it's time to stock up on the favoured ammo type. The multiplayer is also unique. The pace and accuracy levels out the whole experience, creating a highly enjoyable match. In the official GI review, I also can't agree with Reiner's opinion on the Loadouts- if you carried more than two plasmids, gameplay wouldn't flow like it does. My only complaints with the game are the occasional glitches, though sometimes helpful (like when a Big Sister got stuck running in the rubble on the way to the train station at the end of Ryan Amusement) they are tend to affect the games visuals more than anything and represent the minor lack in develop. This aside, Bioshock improves an already great formula, and keeps you splicing up a good time.
