The lights are on
Well friends(and people who dont consider me friendly), I finally take a break from my hectic schedule of...well nothing in particular just not being online, and I decided to join in on the fun on my beloved GIO, so I come in, sit down, and flip through the ticker first to see where the action is tonight, and as I slowly work my way to the site activity page I start noticing a startling trend. Every thread seems to have a 'this forum is dead' or 'new guys ruined this one too' post in it. Now these are not actual quote so do not harp on me, Im just tired of the compartmentalization of this site. Now first and foremost I would like to commend all you old members-for singlehandedly damning all of us to the status of 'new members' despite the fact some of us have contributed to the site, maybe not in the way you would like but contributed nonetheless. Im not going to harp on you guys, and I hope you won't on me. I do like to maintain a level of civility...for the most part. But this must end now. So Im calling you out, Blade, Demon Ragnarok, Arob, Air force foobles, every single member who has pined for the old site and talked so harshly about us new members. Im starting to take offense to these things, and have been distancing myself further and further from this site because of that. We have to see eye to eye on this or else you guys will just end up here with the 10,00 level 1 members with 2 posts and a review of Mass Effect 3. Now if you have stuck with me long enough to make it to this paragraph Id like to commend you. You're more open-minded than I've allowed myself to believe and I apologise. Now to damn the new guys. I agree for the msot part on why you dislike 'us' but I disagree on the definition. The countless profiles with no images, bios, or posts-these aren't new members. These are people who came here and didn't hang out long enough to find something they liked. We hung out long enough to make some friends and start enjoying the site. I'm a new member. Mr badpersonality is a new member. PMC, Lawl, roflcopter, and many others are new members. But we make mistakes. I am known for turning a forum into a jumbled mess of random crap or 'spam' I acknowledge that, which is why I don't involve myself as much because I seem to step on people's toes. I won't call out other people's names, but I will give some examples. We have a new member who won't shut up about his girlfriend. Almost all of us post a new thread on day 1. We take things seriously when theyre not meant in that way. moving on or else this becomes a rant. To help alleviate these problems I think we must collaborate-to an extent. I realise some members may dislike some of the newer guys(trying to keep this depersonalised...not working so well) and some new members may dislike the old members. Im not suggesting we force ourselves to like each other. Im suggesting a peaceful co-habitation. For the betterment of our site. Because thats what it is, our site. Sean may run it, the mods may patrol it, but the community makes it a site. To be completely honest I love the community here, I just wish we could actually be a community. Not just small groups of friends that only talk to each other, but an actual community that can function properly. Granted the site may have faults, but if we could fix the faults on our end maybe we could overlook them a little more until the wrinkles(massive...massive wrinkles) are smoothed out. I sincerely hope this isn't taken the wrong way, if it is I will just delete it I guess. But in conclusion I'm going to try and be a better member, Ive met enough people on here that I respect to try that, and for the ones I respect I want to help make this place better. I hope more people chip in as well but I can speak for no one except myself. I apologise for this massive blog but it had to be said, yes for the 295th time. So here's to hoping we can spark life in the forums....or at least laugh at me trying xD
Recently it came to my attention there's a new freddy krueger movie, and being the fan of old horror movies that I am I decided I would see it....on DVD. Im not paying 50 bucks for popcorn, Im not that big of an idiot. Well between this time and now I came up with the idea of where has freddy been for these past 20 years or so? Well that's where this blog comes in. I did some digging on some of my favorite villains/monsters and found out they arent so different from you and I:1. Freddy Krueger-After his rise to fame in the 80-early 90's, he decided to stop killing 'hot' teenage girls and being an all around pervert and nuisance to society, he has since relocated to Boca Raton, with his Wife Amy Kruger and twin sons Freddy, and Freddy Prince. He works part time as a janitor at a local Elementary school and volunteers at the hospitals burn ward to help show people that life is possible, even if the townspeople burns you for being a complete pedo.2. Micheal Myers-One of the many old monster villains that is now raking in royalties for his contributions to the newer movies, Micheal Myers has settled down as well, though not quite in the same way as our friend Freddy. Micheal took a job in 1991 at a local chinese restaraunt as a meat handler and has since opened his own chain of slaughterhouses. 'Myers Meat: If you knew where it came from, you would Die....no seriously I would kill you, so don't ask'. Although not the catchiest slogan of slaughterhouses business has been good for Micheal, as he no longer wears his trademark mask since he finally had the operation he's been saving for for years. He now lives in Texas on a 500 acre Ranch. 3 Pinhead- Life has not been kind to Pinhead. After a string of hit and miss movies with his cult following of cenobites he fell into a life of addiction. He started off with Cocaine and soon moved up to Heroine and Crystal Meth. His Cult soon disbanded after numerous failed interventions. It turns out that the chains only work for him so you couldn't lock the door on him. But life got better, in 2004 pinhead overdosed and ended up in the ER on a ventilator. Vowing to never end up like this again, he now only smokes the 'occasional' joint, and makes his living at a body art salon in San Diego if you would care to try his style.4 Alien-Everyone knows Alien. But did you know he has a softer side? In a recent interview I sat down with Alien and asked him how his life has been since his heyday(lets face it AvP was not his heyday) He filled me in on his life. After the original 3 alien movies he was no longer content eating people with his 'little mouth' so he(or she I honestly can't tell, and I wasnt going to lift its leg) began a life of world travel. He lived with buddhist monks for 5 years learning the ways of zen, and how to control its urge to puncture everyones face with its own. During this time he aquired several skills, and he is in fact now a world class poet and songwriter(with a hauntingly beautiful voice mind you) and resides on the road, roaming from place to place. When questioned about any plans for the future of the Alien series he said he is going to be in Twilight 4 the movie "Representing Team Cthulu"5 Jason Vorhees-Jason, or the 'J-man' as he prefers now, is more chatty then he let on in his films. I was greeted warmly at Psalm Acres, A Christian Summer Camp that resides where Camp Crystal Lake use to be. I immediately questioned him about this asking why on Earth would he stay here and he said it was to 'be close to family'. In perhaps a cruel twist of Fate, Ja....sorry, J-man is now a camp counselor, helping lost sheep return to the flock. It turns out J-man converted after seeing hell for real. 'I dont want to go there again, no one should go there' said J-man on the subject, seeming rather dodgey, muttering about rooms filled with burning hot human fecal matter. Of course his trusty machete is still in his office, but its only to help clear the hiking trails....he swears. 6 Velociraptor-Works at an unnamed Insurance agency under a new identity due to the 'malevolent forces out there wishing to stamp out velociraptors as a species.' He has had many operations to change his facial features and voice patterns, and has covered his tracks very wisely. I have been unable to track him down for an interview of what happened in his years abroad.
As many(OK all of you) may know, glitching is rampant in Modern Warfare 2, but its getting simply ridiculous now. Ive played with glitchers before, and usually they stick with you one match, maybe two, and move on. Not anymore. Last night I played a social match with some other likeminded fellows and we were having an excellent discussion on subjects ranging from one mans child had just turned 13 to dogs and the particular breeds we favor, and while doing so I look up and manage to notice for 4 matches in a row, we were decimated. We lost 4 matches in a row by a minimum of 3000 points. Well I already think this is odd, so I tell them to buckle down for a few rounds, and see if we can win or if theyre that good. Well We all play our hearts out for another 11 matches and have no victory to show for it. The reason? Glitchers. Now granted the first paragraph didnt have much bearing on this, but it basically tells the story of why I am writing this. The idea of cheating has been around since cavemen figured out the "Ill trade you this stick for your rock" gag and will continue to be around well after I am gone. Im ok with this. But I believe somethign should be done about glitches. Ive heard so much about patches and I still see the same glitches going on. Care Package and Sentry Gun seem prevalent. Even writing this now I see this could quickly devolve into ranting on infinity ward so I will move on quickly. What can we, the actual gaming society, do about these glitchers? Do we post their names in a thread, that way you know to leave the match immediately should you have glanced over the list? Do we petition infinity ward to do somethign about(haha) it? Or do we do like so many and simply switch to another game? I for one can definitely see dropping this game and trading it in towads battlefield bad company 2. Anyways, I apologise for my bias and all around shatty writing but I truly felt I had to voice my opinion. I would like to hear your opinions on the matter though should you feel like writing it down.
Alright, I hate to post a blog(so why do it? I know) But nobody really answers me and just keeps blabbing on what they like instead of engaging in an open discussion. But the point of this is I have fond memories of The game Eternal Darkness:Sanity's Requiem for the gamecube(I know remake, bear with me) Now I remember specifically an article in game informer a few years back saying there's an 85% chance the Silicon Knights will produce a sequel of this amazing game. Has there been any new releases on that? Or is it one of those forgotten titles?
