I'm a first generation gamer that can remember the excitment of going to the arcades to play classic games such as Defender, Pac-Man, and Centipede (just to name a few), playing the Atari 2600 at home, and watching in horror as the industry fell apart during the great video game crash of the early 80's. Fortunately, Nintendo brought the industry back with a vengeance with the NES, and it's been strong ever since. I've been there every step of the way and have played most of the big titles through the years. I still enjoy the great games of today, and feel that games are better than ever, but every now and then the nostalgia of past games overwhelm the excitement I feel towards todays games. Nevertheless, the achievement system on XBOX360, and the plethora of classic games available on all of the consoles have reinvigorated my interest in gaming. I feel that this is the best time to be a gamer, as the wide range of products available offer great experiences for all players, regardless of interests or gaming experience. I also like to view this hobby as a relatively young art form that is just now reaching its golden age.
