Let me narrate for you a little experience I just had. It peeved me a bit. So I was wandering around in these catacombs underneath Florence, Italy looking for some Templar d-bag who had my father killed or some such rot when the thought occurred to me: Who the hell built this place, and why did they set the entrance 20 feet above the floor so that only somebody with my absolutely physics-defying acrobatics could reach it? It's as if somebody has purposefully constructed this whole series of catacombs solely so I can run and jump around in as many different directions as possible, showcasing my lovely animations and my half-cape all flowing in the wind of my own awesomeness.

  • A word about COICA

    14

I just wanted to take a few minutes and offer some thoughts on the "Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act" (COICA) currently being pushed through legislature. Look here if you need a summary on what the bill actually says, but basically it would allow the U.S. Attorney General to "blacklist" any website that engages in infringing activities. This would include the usual suspects such as thepiratebay.org, but the bill's language regarding what exactly constitutes infringement is fuzzy at best. Many of the massive, faceless and already exorbitantly, absurdly rich corporations backing this bill consider YouTube to be an infringing site.

I sometimes like to go on about how PC gaming is superior to consoles. Okay, fine, the mere mention of a comparison between them will probably send me off on a rant. I think consoles are obnoxiously expensive given their extremely specialized functionality. As I type this, I am also: loo

  • A Postcard from Middle-earth, and Other Comments

So I haven't been around GIO the last week or two, and I'll tell you why: over the weekend of March 27-28, The Lord of the Rings Online offered a $9.99 deal for the Mines of Moria and Siege of Mirkwood expansions plus 30 days of free play. So I've returned to Middle-earth in the guise of Haldaran Casarmacil, Protector of the Shire (I love the title system in LotRO). You'll be happy to know I've leveled up four times since then; I'm currently sitting about halfway to level 43.
