My name is Katherine.
My first experience with gaming was when my Nana couldn't get past the sky board on Super Mario Bros because she was afraid of heights. My Nana is also who I have to thank for introducing me to the wonderful world of Hyrule in the Legend of Zelda. I was all of 2 then. It became a fond hobby at 6 however, Santa brought me my very first Gameboy, the very first Gameboy to be exact. I loved it in all it's green screen glory.
Things got serious when I got a hold of my very first console since the NES, the N64. Like many, Mario 64, Zelda Ocarina of Time, and Starfox 64 rocked my world. From then on I was in love. I knew the day I towered Ganon's fortress that I absolutely loved video games.
I was strictly a Nintendo girl for a long while, but when I laid my eyes on FFX I realized there was a whole world I had been missing, the world of Japanese RPGs. That winter I picked up my PS2 and FFX. That was it for me, I was in love....again.
By 8th grade my fond hobby had ballooned into a life style. Unlike my peers at that age, I was at the boy next door's house playing everything from Halo to Crystal Chronicles. I discovered another love, a love for fighting. I was great in Tekken, still am I might add. I don't know how much money my best friend made on me lol.
I met Matt, and he opened up an even broader virtual world to me. Now I play everything from Double Dragon to Castlevania. He said he knew I was the one when we played our first Tekken match listening to Godsmack. : ) What was even better was the fact that he was actually a match for me, he stills kicks my butt sometimes, but I hold my own!
and I am Matt.
I had my first gaming experience on an Atari, heavens I'm old lol. My obsession came about however with the advent of the Final Fantasy series. It amazed me. It was so expansive and vast. There was so much to do. I play the classics now, and they are comparatively easier to the newer titles, but they were like Indiana Jones Adventures growing up. I grew a strong fondness for the RPG. No stone is left unturned, I play them until I have discovered everything that can be discovered. I knew quick that I would not be at my happiest unless I had a paddle in my hand.I just love to play.I later gained an appreciation for titles like Castlevania, Dragon Quest, Star Ocean...I love them all really. When the PS2 came about I started branching out. I enjoy a good game of golf on Tiger Woods, I play seasons upon seasons on MLB, I even do some skating on Tony Hawk. The world of video games is endless. I couldn't think of a better thing to do with my free time. Some people think I am a geek, but what ev. I would like to see them them try there hand at this lol.
KK: We are so glad to be a part of the community. In the little time we have been on GI we have met so many wonderful people who know what it is like to beat that final boss, or open that shinny new console.
Matt: KK has a better knack for the whole writing, blogging, networking thing so I am going to leave it to her, but I will be on. I am lucky to have someone to share my love with : ) I am looking forward to the future in this community! Game On Everyone!
