Hello everyone! If you are reading this, it means that you've come across my profile (nothing really fancy, it is just me, after all) and you probably want to learn more about me. Well, I'm 18 years old and one of my favorite hobbies is pretty obvious. I also love to play piano and play some basketball. Right now I'm kinda working on becoming a pilot.
I joined GI 2 1/2 years ago (it's really been that long, wow). I originally joined to get more details about Portal 2. By the end of the month, I created an account here and voicing my opinion here and there.
I like to drag things out so my bio might be a little long because of some mundane details.
Now my gaming history began when I was only a couple years old. My parents had a Sega Genesis. The two games I played (and I believe we owned) were Sonic the Hedgehog and Jurassic Park. I loved playing the two, and I was a lot better at Sonic than Jurassic Park. I never got past the T-Rex breaking through the glass roof, while Sonic I could get quite a few worlds in before dying.
Aw, the ol' Green Hill Zone
My grandparents owned an NES for some reason, and I was able to play the infamous Mario games (1, 2, & 3) and Duck Hunt. We eventually got one at our place and had one for a while and got ExciteBike.
Now I was also a little bit of PC gamer with a bunch of CDs. I had a bunch of Lego games (the ones that I like better then the new ones), Rollercoaster Tycoon, and many others (mainly promotional games in cereal boxes).
Ah, memories
There are two consoles that I played but never owned. Those are the N64 and the Playstation. Two different friends owned one of these consoles. The friend with the N64, we really only played Mario Kart 64 and had a great time with that. And my friend with the Playstation, the only game I really only remember playing was some Arthur video game.
Now we come to my video game enlightenment years. My dad had been working at GamePro and GameDaily (not at the same time) for a few years. This is when I really got into video games, through Tips & Tricks and also being able to borrow games from the GamePro game vault (it was pretty cool). We had a PS2 with a few games and a Gamecube with only a couple (like Super Monkey Ball and the Donkey Kong game with the banjo peripheral). The first game of my favorite series came with our PS2, none other than Kingdom Hearts. I fell in love with this game, and became part of the reason I became a Disney freak. Some other favorites of mine were the Sly Cooper series (the first game was actually the first PS2 game I ever played), , and a few others.
About 4 years ago, my brother and I remembered that we also had one of those original Xboxes and Halo: CE. My brother and I asked our dad, and he let us. We were blown away by this game. We eventually got Halo 2 and played that to our hearts content.
Another factor in my life that pushed me more towards gaming was none other than the GameInformer magazine. I loved reading the articles, previews reviews, and the featured game. One game that particularly piqued my interest was Assassin's Creed 2. It looked and sounded cool, but I didn't have an Xbox 360 or PS3. So my plan was to ask and subtly beg my parents for a 360 for my birthday by really only talking about the awesome games that I was missing out on on the console. And sure enough, I got an Xbox 360 for my birthday with none other than Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed 1 (I wasn't picky about which game). I plugged in all the necessary cords into power strips and tvs, and started playing Halo 3. This was my very first game ever to be played in the glorious HD. Everything about it excited me. There were bright colors; everything was crisp and crystal clear.
Now my gaming days have kinda been on catch-up with "classic" current-gen games. I've experienced most games ranging from being a spartan to running around a black-and-white world from spiders and most everything in between. It's been a great gaming life, from experiencing classics to eagerly anticipating the latest games.
