Wow...I haven't uploaded a bio yet...hmmmmm...welllllll I suppose I'll get around to updating this in installments.
My foray into gaming started out when my aunt let me buy her gameboy pocket for $40 for my birthday (odd way to give someone a gift huh?). The first thing I did was go to a pawn shop and buy a motocross game for it. It was so cool! I COULD DO FLIPS AND STUFF YEAH! Then I got bored so I got a hold of Super Mario Land. I never could beat that stupid last boss and that haunts me to this day! Shortly after being satisfied with a plethora of Gameboy games (mostly Pokemon Blue and Yellow...suck it Red!) I asked for an N64 for Christmas! Sadly my excitement wasn't as much as that one kid in that viral video, but I was still very very excited! Well I played me some Zelda and was blown away by how amazing that world was. It was seriously like someone wrote the most epic piece of fantasy adventure literature and let this little boy's imagination run wild with questing, fighting, treasure chest opening, music playing, stealing fisherman hats, you know, the usual stuff in an adventure game. I, like many many others, have played that game so much that I have the map and most of the dungeons memorized (which made Master Quest that much more entertaining because it switched up the norm not counting that you have to shoot cows stuck inside walls with a slingshot to open doors in the third dungeon). That game in particular is what made me decide that gaming was going to be a lifelong hobby, nay, a burning passion of mine!
(tell me this isn't one of the most iconic scenes not only in gaming but in fantasy lore as well)
I played a lot of Pokemon Stadium and Super Mario 64 (almost choked to death while playing it once) as well as other classic N64 games and handheld Pokemon games. However, my mind was literally blown to shreds when I received my PS2 for Christmas. I remember getting Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts, and Men in Black (I got more games than that but I only remember those three). Final Fantasy X demolished every facet of reality I was surrounded by when I played that game. It had an amazing hardcore opening song (to a second grader) and amazing environments and lore and monsters and people and magic and betrayal and love and underwater soccer! Whenever I played that game, I ceased to exist, instead I was Titus and I was telling my story to some kid who liked to leave me in boss fights as he went to school. I dreamed about Final Fantasy X and lived it. Being an only child, my mind was free to wander other worlds uninterrupted by sniveling siblings!
(This scene filled me with so much emotion I thought I was going to explode from joy)
Pretty much the same thing happened with me and Kingdom Hearts. Whenever I got my Gamecube and played Windwaker, I thought my life was complete. Then I played Pikmin and Smash Brothers Melee and I was one happy kid. Nintendo and Sony had become part of an identity of mine now. Little did I know what was creeping around the corner *dramatic music plays* The Xbox! When the Xbox came out I wasn't too excited. My friend got one for Christmas though and I spent literally every weekend at his house playing Halo: CE (He only had the demo disc for awhile so we would spend hours playing Silent Cartographer. Even when he got the full game we played that level over and over again...I've seen enough of that map to fill Hyrule's land mass). Well, I eventually got one for Christmas a few years later and played my fair share of Halo and Mech Assault and Harry Potter Quidditch. It was also with this system that I experienced Western RPG Jade Empire. That game is fantastic from beginning to end, infinite replay value, buy it now or face the wrath of my inner anger!
So, at the sake of rambling on even longer, I'll make this next part short. Got KOTOR for the PC and fell in love then I eventually got a Wii and Twilight Princess became my sustenance. I got a 360 and fell into Oblivion then received a PS3 and Metal Gear Solid 4 was my best bud!
