The lights are on
I'm just gonna say that I am a diehard action fan and there is only one game now that can fill my hunger... And her name is Bayonetta. Ryu Hayabusa, Dante (Devil May Cry Dante, not Dante's Inferno Dante. Keeping up?) and yeah I will say it, even Kratos have to admire Bayonetta's beauty and hardcore ass kickage. From the second I started the game until the end of the credits, every single moment was blood pumping action. It really went above and beyond any expectation I had for the game and I am in love with this game. I'm not giving the game a 9.75 just because its awesome and I love it (Even though I could....), but rather from the side that knows a great action game when I see one. Bayonetta's seamless controls and fluid combos just make the game absolutley feel like you don't have a controller in your hands. The boss fights are just out of this world and if you take the time to pick up every book and read them the story is actually quite good. The game does a pretty good job of adding some comical elements which I think worked out perfectly, because your always in some kind of crazy action packed fight for about 95% of the game. But there are moments when the scenes just seem a little bit rediculous, but that aside the cutscenes are really awesome to watch. The characters in the game are few but you probrably won't even notice because all you want is the next cool weapon to ravage all of your enimies with. The soundtrack is unique because the music isn't your normal epic build up to an awesome guitar riff or drum solo, but rather a more femanistic choice of songs that works perfectly. I will say though that the game is pretty difficult, so don't expect to breeze through the game (Unless your playing it on easy.... Wimps). Oh yeah, for all the achievers out there, expect to only get around 450 gamerscore points as getting 1000 in this game will take a lot of your time. So all in all I will say that Bayonetta now defines the hardcore action genre in my opinion. Any games that come out now have to live up to the standard that Bayonetta has set, and that is a very high bar I might add.
Darksiders was hands down a fun and entertaining game all around. it really does mimic God of War and Zelda ( Portal too?) but even with those similarities Darksiders deserves to be played. The story of the game isn't really all that great but it keeps you engaged and wanting to see what happens to the horseman. The combos in the game are really flush and pretty easy to pick up and play and the graphics are also good. I played through the game on the APOCOLYPTIC difficulty and I found myself dying quite a few times and running back to your humble merchant for more health. But for any achievers(Achievement junkies just like myself) you can play through the APOCOLYPTIC difficulty without going out of your way to find other objects and items, and still end up with at least 750 points. I will warn you though, your gonna die... a lot. But that put aside the game delivers a solid performance and if you like God of War or even Zelda (Remember running through those dungeons with your handy boomerang? Well your gonna be doing the same thing) then I would recommend you play Darksiders. And the ending of the game seriously had me wanting the sequel so much more. Now I'm just waiting until I get my hands on the second instalment of the game. I'm just hoping it becomes everything I'm hoping for. All in all its just a fun game to play and who doesn't like shoving a 200 pound sowrd through countless enimies? Well I sure do!
