I am an avid gamer and I would love to find a way to work in the video game industry to some capacity, though it may be as more of a hobby at this point in my life. I play video games whenever I'm not busy with work, which is not as much time as I'd like. I finished school and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in History in May 2014. I used to work as a writer for my college, New Mexico State University, covering sports and writing different articles for the school's athletic website. Now, I actually work at my local church and am a paid employee there (A lot changed in my life through college :))
Video games have been my life since I found my older sisters' NES when I was six and began playing Super Mario Bros. I moved on to the N64 which was the first system that I could say was all mine. I played every game that I could get my hands on by renting (Remember renting from Blockbuster?) or buying. I eventually got a PSOne and began playing RPG games like Final Fantasy. I moved on to a PS2 to get one game, Kingdom Hearts. I loved that game and I moved on to other great titles for the PS2. I got an Xbox and built up my library of video games. Then the current generation of games came and I grabbed a 360 and I was able to finally get a PS3 as well. I had to wait a while before grabbing an XBox One, but that was the first current gen console I purchased and I was able to get an early Christmas gift of the PS4 this year.
I'm starting to feel like I can't really keep up with the industry but I plan on keeping up for as long as I can. When I was in high school, my friends and I talked about never turning into those guys that got older and decided that video games were for children and that we'd stop playing. We wanted to be gamers forever. I still haven't stopped playing now that I'm 27, and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. My tastes and the sheer volume of video games I play may change, but as far as I'm concerned I will be playing video games for the rest of my life!
