Everybody likes lists! :)
1. Intro to Gaming: I grew up on an alpaca farm, and my only neighbors within a few miles radius were a house of seven boys and two graduated girls. Needless to say, these boys and I played plenty of games, and they are reasons I became so interested in gaming. Being a girl, I doubt I would have been introduced any other way.
2. Learning Curve: I'm now studying journalism at the University of Missouri, although I'm from good ol' Ohio. Game Informer is what is inspiring me to write for the world of gaming, and of course, their offices would be the ideal job, period. For that reason, I've tried to become more active on their website. Their magazine has filled my room for years.
3. Here's my take on reviews: I don't like to assign a number to things, but I know reviews don't belong on the user blog pages. I like to tell you my experiences, and then you get to go from there. Don't take my numbers to heart.
4. Compulsive Editor: I really am one. Most of my comments contain the word typo, then these guys : and then list mostly grammatical stuff that is easily fixable. I also do a lot of content editing, suggesting ways to improve arguments or tie off loose ends. I know people like me bother peeps dat lyke to rite lyke dis. I can't help it, so sorry in advance.
5. Indie Developing: This year, a few friends and I decided we wanted to start our own developing company for small iPhone games, and maybe work our way up from there (Ninth Planet Gaming, you can find us on Twitter and Facebook!). We're barely anywhere right now, and currently we're working on a morality game situated in a zombie apocalypse (see number 6). I'm a writer and failed programmer, so I'm in charge of the story. I mean, we're college students, so I'll let you know if this ever goes anywhere.
6. The only thing I love more than Nathan Drake are zombies.
7. Dreams: I already know that programming is over my head, and I like to draw but am no artist, so that left me without a job in game developing. And I wouldn't want to be on the producer side either--too business-y and not enough creativity. I like to write, and would love to find how that could fit in with a company, but for now I've chosen video game journalism, a very good alternative.
8. Outside of Video Games: I'm a college kid and like to do college kid things. I love adventures and traveling. I love hiking outside of the trail and losing my shoes in a muddy river. I play lacrosse on a club team. I love escaping zombies (you can check out my blogs on Humans v. Zombies, a zombie apocalypse that invades college campuses for a week). I wrote two full-length novels in two years and they have been sitting in the same place ever since. I love me some frisbee and flashlight tag. My greatest aspiration is to one day ride in a hot air balloon.
That's all I have for now. See you on the blogs.
