Whooooooo are you?
About me huh? Alrighty then....I'm a Korean-American and gaming is in my blood! I'm one of the most passionate gamers you could care to meet. I work at Gamestop, I'm in college studying game design, I write about games, I read about games, and I'm even hard at work on a game project that i hope to get on a console after I graduate. I also have a great idea for a video game business. But let me go into greater detail.
Playstation Patriot
I play the PS3....a lot, and passionately. I'm at 1300+ trophies, and i have almost 100 full disc-based games for my PS3. Another 50 or so downloaded. I'm subscribed to Qore as well as Playstation: The Official Magazine and Game Informer. And yes, I think that the Playstation 3 is the best system this generation, mainly because of all the exclusives they seem to be dropping like junk loot.
Games I Adore
My favorite game series is God of War. The main reason is because of the action, most particularly the amazing combat system. I love the story, it's very direct, original, and so well told with those awesome cutscenes. The last reason is the art direction, everything about the game is beautiful and imaginative. In fact, the original God of war is what turned me from a guy who played games into a passionate gamer. God of war was the game that got me onto the internet, forums, blogs and stuff to talk about the game.
My other favorite game series is starkly different; Rock Band. Yes, I'm an avid Rock band addict who is also extremely skilled. On the first Rock band, i peaked at 36th on the global leaderboards, i took first place at my university in a 256 player Rock Band tournament, and I've beaten every song on expert for guitar. I get every single bit of DLC except country music.
Other favorites range from Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Ratchet and Clank, Little Big Planet, Elder Scrolls, Journey, and Super Smash Bros, and tons of fighters.
Oh and this little guy...
I also have a Wii, i get all the big exclusives for it like the big marios and "wii" games. Other than that, it doesn't get much use. Which is fine, it's not my main console. And no, i don't own an Xbox 360 anymore, but I do want one again. Especially now that the Witcher 2 is available on it.
Fanboy Scale....1/10
Am I a fanboy?.....no, even though i have a favorite console, I do not bash or ridicule other systems in a biased way at all. I will however, defend to the death, the video game industry as a whole, and I will be biased when comparing gaming to other entertainment mediums. It is the best in my opinion, and will always believe that.
When the power is off
So on the non-gaming side....I'm 22, live middle class, had a disturbing past, grew past it, who cares? not me. I play music almost as much as I play games. I create my own songs, and I have a prized electric piano that i record my songs on with full multi-instrument and drums thrown in. They range from classical remixes, to techno, and intense instrumentals that my friends say should be on movie trailers. Most of my songs are reserved for games I'm working on! haha.
My other interests include movies of course, and books. Harry Potter is my favorite book, and my favorite movies range from Wall-E, V for Vendetta, 28 Days Later, Green Mile. Recently, my favorite is Hugo. Anime wise, I love Mushi-shi more than any other, along with Airbender. Deathnote, Kenichi, and Monster round out my top 5.
To universities and Beyond.
So yes, I went to college at the University of North Texas, but they didn't have a good gaming program so I moved to Florida to attend Full Sail. After college i plan to try to work for Sony Computer Entertainment America or Pixar. If i can't get in then, I'll settle for a smaller developer, go to some more college, and re-apply later. Or my other dream, to start my own gaming studio.
When I Sleep
Finally, let's talk about my goals and dreams. My number one dream is to have my creations seen throughout the world. My entire life I've always been creating something. When i was a kid i had a journal full of hundreds of new pokemon, and I even drew them all out, described all their powers, wrote biographies for each one, and how they interact with each other. As i grew older, I became more ambitious. Now my projects include multitudes of video game projects. a couple movie ideas, my instrumentals, and lyrics. And a business idea that i hope to start only if i get rich enough.
That's me, as you can see, so i'll end this with my own quote.
"I'd rather have enough time to read all the books in the world than enough money to buy all the books in the world"
