  • Nintendo Fans and Hardcore Gamers Rejoice

When I play this game I look like a person with Tourette syndrome and a little kid whose parents just bought him a puppy. Donkey Kong Country Returns is the only game that can throw me into great spasms of rage, but still keep a big dopey smile on my face. This is hands down the best Donkey Kong game I have played and possibly the best 2D platformer. Donkey Kong Country Returns wraps in the occasional bit of nostalgia with fresh level design. Don't be fooled though this game is very hard (I was dieing on the first level). Once you get in the swing of things though you want look as much like the New Super Mario Bros. Wii weened child that you are. It feels awesome to handle business in this game. The game then kindly backhands you and tells you that you still aren't good enough, but you accept it and try again. This happens plenty on the incredible mine cart levels. Also something I haven't mentioned is that this is a very good looking game. The backrounds tend to interact with you and draw your eye too. I enjoyed occasionally get blasted into the background or running from the giant squid trying to smash me into little gorilla bits. The only negative thing I can say about the game is having roll mapped to shaking the wii-mote (when you hop on Rambi its a bit of a pain). However, if you are a master of the shake weight this won't bother you at all. Overall you should be playing this game right now and no weeping when it tells you that you aren't good enough you're a Nintendo gamer not a Wii gamer (if you are then my apologies, you may continue petting your fake unicorn and forget about the existence of big boy games).
