  • I think perhaps the saddest thing about the rise of gaming in youth culture is youtube. These youtubers impress upon these young gamers that games are exclusively a social experience. • Microsoft needs to produce more concrete exclusives if they ever want to properly compete with Sony. They can only birth out so many Halo's and Gears of War's, or Forza's but it is pretty darn clear that it isn't cutting it. Scalebound was never going to be a console seller but losing it will still hurt. They already lost Titanfall as an exclusive series, and Tomb Raider is back on PlayStation and PC. They are running out of rope. Meanwhile, their biggest competitor from down the street is producing exclusive after exclusive. Not only that, but those exclusives are from nearly every single genre imaginable, so there is something for everyone. But in the end, I don't care, because video games are lame and a waste of time. on 10 Jan 2017 9:04 AM

  • In an RPG, such as Dark Souls, I'm always told that I'm ''supposed'' to play it a certain way. For instance, I'm told, ''You're SUPPOSED to upgrade your stats this way, or else the game won't work.'' If the developer designed his game subjectively and ALLOWED people to ruin it, then really, he failed to design his game at all; he's an idiot. There's no such thing as bad design. There can only be a LACK of design, a lack of structure.  In an RPG, why am I expected to upgrade my health stats as I come across enemies who deal more damage, but I'm not expected to play on the easiest difficulty? If they want me to do what's best for me, then why not make it the default setting?! See, they don't care about balancing the game at all; it goes completely out the window. on 18 Sep 2014 9:56 PM
