  • Need for Speed World Beta Impressions

Wow. Need for Speed World. A racing MMO? Well, that sounds cool. Well, it surprisingly is cool. Very cool, in fact. Yeah, you start out with the basic car selection screen. Yeah, I got a Mitsubishi Eclipse for my first car. I changed the color, exited the safehouse and was plopped right into the city. Well, that's one thing missing. The live action videos. Tsk tsk. That would been awesome. Still, the city's pretty cool... to a certain extent. Where's the cops? Why can't I join a multiplayer race? As it turns out, you have to win two single-player races to level up to level 2 (yep, a RPG system). As soon as that happens, the world opens up. More events are unlocked, the city has more space for you to roam around in, the cops finally appear for pursuits, and you can talk to other players.

Underrated gems have always concerned me. WHY are they so underrated? From this generation of consoles, Shellshock 2 and Soldier of Fortune Payback piss me off that they don't get the recognition they deserve.

This is a self-created intervention. They say that the first thing you need to do is admit that you have a problem. I do. Every time I hate on a game, I go back to play it later, only to find that I like it the -insert number here- time around. Half-Life... More
  • 80's Music!

    9 1

Well, I've recently been listening to some Ozzy Osbourne songs and they got me thinking. 80's music is still alive but is being drowned out by people like Justin Baby (What? I can't call him names?) and Lady Le$b0 (She said God bless the gays!) In fact, 80's music fans like me and onslaughts of others have decided to attack Justin Beiber's vid on July 4 (ft. some dude that people these days like). I think it is indeed funny to see the comments that metal fans post when somebody says something about this generation sounding great (some are quite notable due to vulgarity). I may not have been born any time near the 80's, but I have to say that 80's was when music was simply at it's best. The head band got popularized and great bands lie Def Leppard pushed themselves into awesomeness status. Myriad bands snorted coke and had extreme health problems. Woodstock '89 appeared, Michael Jackson released the most sold album of all time, Phil Collins continued to become even more famous. AC/DC, KISS, and dozens of other bands had their most notable songs. The 80's was just a gigantic party that never got dull. I'd love to see us return to that time, even for several hours (Brutal Legend).

  • Half-Life!

Oh my friggin' God. Over half of my life (that wasn't intended in the slightest, but it is coincidentally true) has been spent hating on this game. I STARTED to play it over and over again for 7 years not liking it. Then, I saw some gameplay for Half-Life 2 (a game that I have) and decided I'd download the Platinum Collection of the original. I started with the original and I can summarize this experience in a sentence: Unexpectedly, the best game I have yet to play. The game's masterful use of puzzles (which probably led to Portal), finely tuned combat, original weapons, stiff challenge, and a great story makes sure I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the game housing everyone's favorite theoretical physicist.

  • Should the PS2 and Xbox Really Die?

    17

For years, Microsoft and Sony have been competing in the console gaming market. We all know that. This generation, the battle's been a tug-of-war. There's is NO clear winner. For last generation, Sony won by almost a friggin' landslide. The original Xbox is now dead with no Xbox LIVE functionality and no more Xbox games being sold at GameStop (or at least mine). However, both systems have finally faded into obscurity. My question is: Why?

  • Irresponsible Parents, Irresponsible Gamers

    17 1

Today, I went to Wal-Mart. Yes, I played the Uncharted 2 and inFAMOUS demos again, this time with a fixed controller. My problem is, once again, the kids. A kid around 7 years old looked at me and asked me how Rogue Warrior was. I, wanting to see how he'd act, said I had no idea (BIG LIE: I know the game too well...) how it played. The kid then goes and asks his parent for it. She tells him to give her a minute. My inFAMOUS demo ends and I go around the corner to look at controllers. I come back about two minutes later and the kid tells me that his mother got it for him. Under my breath, I said, "God dam*it." I felt kind of bad that a child was going to go through this kind of torture. Then I realized that it wasn't my fault at all. It was the responsibility as a parent for the mother to look up the game's content. It was the child's responsibility to go to Google and type in "Rogue Warrior Reviews" and judge for himself. It, however, was not MY responsibility to tell the kid that it sucked. I figured that he knew it sucked and he wanted my opinion on it. However, my issue was really with the parent AND the child for being irresponsible and not looking up the review scores and content. Rogue Warrior is an awful game (Reiner and I know all too well.) and no one should be subjected to it and all of the gameplay. It's an abomination and I feel the child deserved it for not doing what he should have done. This goes for all gamers who fall to the trap of bad games. Please, look games up before going out and buying them. Too many gamers have fallen prey to games like Vampire Rain, Rogue Warrior, and Last Rebellion. It shouldn't happen... ever.

I'm talking CoD, of course. In terms of IW, they have a more... pu$$ified version of war. Seriously, they make awesome games. My problem is this: if you're making a war game, make it feel like war. When you shoot terrorist in the arm with a SPAS... More
  • The Worst Wastes of Good Ideas in Gaming

    1. Rogue Warrior - This game had so much potential. A tactical stealth shooter set in the Cold War and you play as Dick Marcinko. However, when Bethesda scrapped the previous team and their work for Rebellion, it all went to hell. This is the most major waste of time and a good idea I've ever witnessed.
