The lights are on
I have nothing to say, of importance that is. I'm merely posting a review because for some reason GI decided to remove the ability to comment on their reviews. Bad form, GI!
Maybe its not a ten, but take the average of my score and GI's and you'll get a better idea of what the game should be rated. It's a fresh take on classic platforming with very fun fighting mechanics. The controls aren't nearly as sloppy as the GI review makes them out to be, in fact, I never really had a problem with the controls at all. This would've been a 8.5-9 in my book if it weren't for the repetitive boss fights, as it stands, 7.5 is about right, I just had to throw the 10 out there to balance out GI's harsh review. PS. check out IGN's review for a better idea of what the game is about.
My score is based purely on excitement factor. Really, I'm just posting this review because there was no comments section available for me to say, "SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The creative minds at Double Fine have a knack for making games with the smallest possible target audience, and I respect the hell out of them for that. They don't make games to appeal to the masses, they make games to appeal based on their own merits as interesting interactive experiences. Stacking is a pretty interesting concept, navigate a stacking doll-populated world, using different combinations of stacks to make your way through cleverly designed puzzles. That each puzzle has multiple solutions adds a sense of accomplishment to succeeding in finding the answers. Some are ingenious, some are goofy, but all are creative, and add greatly to the replayability. Stacking can be good fun at times, and those times are pretty frequent, but it has problems as well.
