You should check them out - and yeah, I used actual artists in my argument. I listen to it enough to have entire conversations with artists. D= Kind of sad sometimes, but that's how much I love music. I don't know what I play, either. I can't pigeon-hole my own music. I write differently - I would write, say, a few melodies, but have a bunch of empty space in the middle to improvise. I love improvisation. At the same time, I can relate with middle school a lot. I was miserable then. Things do get better, though. Check out the blogs I wrote. I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner. I don't have much time, but I'll give you an explanation for all you've said. What makes Rise Against a horrible or at their best, mediocre band, is the fact that their "punk", or whatever genre you want to throw with their name, is only a mediocre exemplification of their predecessors. Bad Religion, for instance, despite them also being a pretty mediocre band except for an album or two, surpassed Rise Against on No Control, etc. Fugazi, Cap'n Jazz, and many others have surpassed Rise Against and others. Their political ideals are also completely retarded, and a band like Frodus has political ideals that are actually realistic, well-thought out and actually applicable and reasonable. Next, why are you bagging on entire genres of music? What absolute truth do you have to state that all country and all of pop music is bad? Do you know what pop is? It is anything that uses a motif as part of its main song structure. It is merely based on catching your ear in their melodies, etc. Country is what helped make rock music happen to begin with. Consider bands like Violent Femmes, whom through their folk punk and their country elements, influenced a band like Against Me! and a slew of other bands. Consider 16 Horsepower, The Triffids, and many others, who express melodic darkness in their music and create a realistic soundscape. Or even better, let's go farther back and bring Townes Van Zandt into the picture and his influence for music today and the sheer, depressing beauty of his music. As for rap, there's so many from The Coup, Deltron 3030, Company Flow, Cannibal Ox, GZA, and many, many others I can't even begin to describe. Rap is a massive, amazing genre. Point is, you're mistaken in your perception of music because you keep trying to give this absolute truth on genres of music. That is wrong, man. Music must be judged in a deeper, more individualistic way that's right for you. You can't say country is bad if you haven't dived into the subgenres of country and have only heard CMT, like you can't say all of pop is bad if everything you listen to that depends on a motif heavily essentially already with pop elements at the very least. Turn off the radio and treat music by band, by whole albums, and not by a few silly 3-4 minute songs and then try to judge an ENTIRE genre of music. By the way, google alt keys to see how I my letters. I hope I explained it all to you respectably. I was just joking about the flame war. I don't want to flame. I'd rather discuss.

I didn't even realize you commented my profile.
