I don't know what the problem is. Maybe it's being too comparative. Maybe it's too-high expectations. Maybe it's from missing the hype train entirely in 2011.
I enjoyed reading the official Game Informer list of the top 25 Xbox 360 games. It's a good collection that hits all the high points. Everything there deserves its spot.
Life isn't fair. Irrational Games put out one of the best games of 2013 (if not the entire console generation) when it released Bioshock Infinite. Ken Levine and his team spent years building one of the best-realized and compelling worlds in gaming. It was incredible.
Remember fun games? Enjoyable ones?
I started playing Minecraft again. The game maintains timeless appeal. You spawn, collect items, and fashion the world to your design. The simplicity calms me and doles out enjoyment in small, consistent doses. Minecraft is fun.
Epic announced a new Unreal Tournament game, and it seems too good to be true. The company release it free for Windows, Mac and Linux. The community can help with development, which will be live-streamed over Twitch. Epic will also sponsor an official marketplace where users can use the game's source code to create and sell mods. Epic makes its money from taking a cut of the mod sales.
The worst part of owning a Mac is gaming. I bought a MacBook Air a while back because it worked great for my journalism and programming classes. A computer that weighs three pounds and runs for 12 hours? Sign me up.
It started when I was a kid. I was playing Pokemon Red on my Game Boy Color. The game's music emitted from the translucent purple plastic.
I started playing Max Payne 3 today. Picked it up during a Steam sale and finally cleared up the 30-some gigabytes of storage you need to install the game. It's ridiculous. A few controller hurdles later and I was playing.
Is a game a game when it has no gameplay?
Gamers keep talking about The Stanley Parable, calling it "game of the year" and "revolutionary."
Dead Space 2 is making my life hell, like the title says.
