The lights are on
You like shooters because you like the sense of power they give you. Few games are as skilled at making you feel like a competent warrior as Infinity Ward's Call of Duty series. Every bullet has a story. Take a moment and tell us a few of yours.
ive been wondering; with the new black ops coming to our shores in november is it worth buying CODMW2???? is it worth 100 aussie bucks??tell me your opinion
kade stone
Yeah. CODMW2 sets the standard for Black Ops, and could be considered a swan song for Infinity Ward if you consider their recent legal wranglings with Activision. Black Ops is Treyarch's latest offering, and hopefully will set the series in a positive direction forward.
Or, you could wait for a discount. But investment-wise, that game should be purchased sometime in the future if you are a COD fan.
thanks for the advice
The first thing I would say is just because a game has been out for some time, or just because the next iteration of that title is about to release, does not mean it is any less worth buying. MW2 and Black Ops are going to be similar in game mechanics and little else, I imagine. The stories, characters, and development teams behind each title are completely unrelated, and the multiplayer component for Black Ops is looking like a very different experience - much more so than any other previous CoD compared to another.
So yes, definitely get both if you can!
The price sounds outrageous though, why is that? I know Australia has some crazy video game regulations, and I wouldn't be surprised if MW2 were banned and you had to import or something - but what's the scoop on that?

Hold on, do you mean that you have to choose between the two? If so, then I go black ops all the way, sight unseen. (played) MW2 is an incredible game, but you'll find the campaign very short, and the multiplayer has lost all credibility. You'll get a great online experience as good or better than WaW without hordes of glitchers, bugs, boosters, and unbalanced weaponry.
The bugs and glitches are gone, get over it.
Weapon balances aren't that bad at all, the only major problem is boosters.
I'd recommend buying mw2 after Black Ops comes out, odds are people will flood stores with used copies so that you can pick one up for a low price.
ok evrybody i bought mw2 today and its AAAAAAWWWWWWWWWSSSSSSOOOOOOOMMMMMEEEEE!!!! but yes the single player campaingn even though im probabley round half-through only took like 3and a half hoursbbbbuuuuuttttttttt multiplayer has NOT lost all of its creditblity as its great but difficuit when playing online as evryone is level 70
Don't worry Kade Stone. You'll soon learn that someone's level does not always define their skill level. :)

Yeah, those Christmas kids, as I like to call them, that are usually ruining Modern Warfare 2 lobbies will probably go to Black Ops by... next Christmas. You just made me realize that.
Yup, but I generally use them to my advantage by letting them fill up servers of older games, like mw1 or l4d.
Although the surge usually only last a few weeks or so due to their lack of an attention span (or they convince their parents to spend $60).
When I think about it there were less children on mw1 when WaW came out...but there were more people who no longer cared about their stats and did whatever they wanted, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I'd rather have a player on my team who's having fun rather than having to deal with a child killing himself with RPGs.
lulz, I ran into what was probably one of those kids on Reach yesterday. He was running around in Big Team Slayer using the "Sprint" ability, just charging at people and trying to quickly hit them twice to kill them.
The first time he did this, he caught me off my guard, but I was able to kill him as he killed me. The rest of the game, I kept an eye out, and I saw him coming every other time and picked him off with some well-placed DMR shots.
Are these kids trying to bring the concept of "knifing" to Halo? I think they are, except that it won't work on skilled players. }:)
I wouldn't waste my money with Black Ops right around the corner.
If you want to play some COD however, i suggest picking up COD2, the best COD ever.
it's also only around $15 American dollar (cheap)

There is a spot on your GameInformer.com profile for your PSN. If you type it in correctly it should pull the info from the master server and load your network card onto your profile page.
Yes it takes like at least a week for your PSN to actually show up instead of a broken picture. Find it on your profile:
"Edit Profile"
to the right you'll see "online gaming info"
enter your info in the boxes and something should load up.
By the way, my PSN is "fpsKim" if you want to add me.
