The lights are on
You like shooters because you like the sense of power they give you. Few games are as skilled at making you feel like a competent warrior as Infinity Ward's Call of Duty series. Every bullet has a story. Take a moment and tell us a few of yours.
That was an awesome video Eyrosk
And I'm glad they nerfed the Type a little. It's cool its still a powerful gun though but honestly that thing was just insane. Same with the FMGs. Other than that, this game has some amazing gun balance
Send me an invite Eyros, I'll join.
As for sniper rifles in MW3...it's difficult to judge in my opinion since I feel most of the maps are bad for sniping.
I like using the M14 to snipe more than my other Sniper Rifles.
I don't snipe, but just because you don't put a silence on your sniper doesn't make you a noob.
In the older games i considered myself a pretty good sniper, but these maps in the past 2-3 games have just been way to small (besides a couple in MW2) and cluttered to enjoy sniping.
I agree to an extent, although I'm not the most experienced in the game. It definitely depends on the map, because I find myself switching between a sub-machine gun or another sort of 3-burst assault rifle whenever I'll play on a map such as Dome, Mission or Carbon. And even though these maps (just to name a few) have good vantage points, they're easy to find and you'll be getting knifed constantly by the opposing team while aiming.
However, good sniping views aren't always where you'd expect. On the map, Outpost, I got a 9 point killstreak just by sniping through the one alley between the house and the cargo containers since the opposing team kept trying to shoot through the warehouse window and make their way through the alley.
In Arkaden, the stairways are always filled with semi-campers who are slow moving since they're unaware of the opposing teams whereabouts on the next floor. From a distance it's a few easy kills.
You just need to look for good sniping opportunities, and even if you can't find any, the sniper rifle is always a good challenge in close combat.
Just have a reliable secondary, like an MP9 akimbo. That there's my lovely gun child!
It's hard NOT to love the vastly superior in every respect guns of the games...
In MW2 the Barrett .50 was an Intervention only with a larger clip and faster fire rate.
The MW3 RSASS (M110) has the handling characteristics of a DMR like the MK14, the 20 round magazine and exceptionally fast fire-rate, able to be used effectively even without pausing between shots, yet has the power of a sniper rifle - killing in 1-shot more often than not... compared to it's brother (in form and function) the Dragunov, which for whatever reason requires 2 shots to kill and has an inexplicable 10 round magazine...
Yep, comically weak for a sniper and has half the clip size of the RSASS. You know what the funniest part is? You might expect it to have a quicker raise/lower or reload time to compensate for this... it doesn't. Slower in all three fields.
As for the whole, if you're so good snipe with a silencer business... immediately what comes to mind is an image of a yokel demanding "DO IT BLINDFOLDED!" And I suppose that's what the Dragunov was put in MW3 for? It's blatantly a laughable weapon, so perhaps it's intended use is humiliation?
Honestly, I'd just like to see the RSASS retooled. A low recoil high capacity sniper SHOULD be a 2-shot kill like the Dragunov is... not to mention the sound for it firing is such a mismatch. It sounds meaner than the .50 cal yet is supposed to be firing a standard .762 for goodness sake.
in a way i agree with you because if it were a 2 shot weapon it would be mabye 3x as hard because as soon as you shoot it it creates a path were the bullet came from so it would be more humiliating if you got killed by it but you got to admit in most campaign missions the sniper rifles are usually silenced and not just for call of duty but for older games like sniper ghost warrior or predator vs prey
Oh how I miss maps like Creek and the M40..
ya those were good
