The lights are on
Mass Effect was one of the most action-packed space odysseys we've ever experienced, and it has at least two sequels that look to up that ante in nearly every way. Whether you are new to the universe or an experienced explorer, feel free to pull up a chair
Okay, so this thread is really just for general discussions and speculation about Mass Effect, and the sequel coming out in January. I read the article that Hudson did with Xbox magazine about how our characters and their choices would influence our playthrough in the second, but, a random question came to mind after I beat the Pinnacle Station DLC; does anyone think we'll still have that house we earned from completing Ahern's mission? Just something to get discussions started.
What do you guys think about the new characters? Which ones do you think will be your favorites?
I imagine (or at least hope) there will be multiple options for lodging available in the new game. Can't imagine the connection to your previous play though will be that extensive that every bit of what you did will fully import. As for new characters, haven't investigated. I tend to avert my eyes when it comes to preview information related to story intensive games. Much better to experience it all as brand new when you actually play it you know?

Yeah, I guess so. I've got an account with the site though, and I've seen a couple of them, and let's just say - to avoid spoilers - that one of them is wilder than Wrex. I know, they said that if you played through the game and Wrex died in the first, he'd be dead in the second one - which means Wrex will probably show up in it somewhere - and if you didn't ever have a save file from the first, it would give you a "canon" introduction to the series, etc.
Another note: I made a bada** Renegade out of one of my characters, so I can't wait to see how things shape up. They said there will be tons of endings this time too.
It would be fun if that house showed up again, even if it was completely useless.
I'm trying to avoid "spoilers" too. Am I the only one that thinks BioWare is giving too much info away, too soon? I've only watched a couple of the trailers. I want to be surprised when I play the game.
I know the feeling. But when I watch the videos, I like to think that they are the tip of the iceberg. There is alot of content left untouched. There has to be because they couldn't manage to fit it all on one disc this time. For Mass Effect 2 they had to put it on two discs. I'm excited!
Theres a house!
Yeah, I agree.
Yeah Alvarez, if you beat the Pinnacle Station DLC then...
You get to enter a special mission where you survive in a crazy program that can actually get you killed (yes killed in real life) and if you beat that, then...
You get to have a nice house and also get to purchase armor and weapons too. Aside from that, it's not too useful for anything else, but it's like a trophy to me. Kind of reminds me of the house you got in Zelda or the villa you purchased in Final Fantasy seven.
All that aside, Asazi, they still haven't even revealed all the characters, which is pretty cool, and there's some much stuff in this game that it's going to surprise us no matter how much we know. I still smile in excitement just watching the cutscenes and the incredibly smooth game play.
i don't want to much info on the characters, i want ever twist i can't imagine
In the newest Game Informer there is an article about ME2 and they state that even small side-missions will have an impact on the game and who you can meet. One example they give is that Conrad Verner (The Big Fan side mission) will appear in the game and will react to you in a way based on how you handled the mission in the first game. They have confirmed that most of the character that you could interact with in the first game through side mission may appear and will react based on your actions during said missions.
If you bred HK-47, Shale, Chai Ka and Wrex, the gaming world would explode from sheer badassery.
I kind of find it hard to believe that they kept track of all the outcomes to a play through. But it is Bioware and with all of their achievements, I think they are capable of alot.
well i think they focused on the bigger choices more, and i don't think every choice made a difference, and if it did i should have been nicer to conrad.
BTW you will be able to edit your old character.

I wouldn't be surprised if they kept track of everything... I mean they did program all the different choices, and I don't think it would be too hard to make a table or caching program to tally them all up based upon the old programming (but this is me talking out of my ignorance at this point). The sheer fact that my last game will affect this one is really quite nice.
And being able to edit my old character will be nice as well. Looking forward to some nice biotic powering... it'd be nice to see how Subject Zero compares to my renegade Shepard... my specialization was nemesis and lift did some major damage.
cool. so we can like fix things we weren't so fond of?
