The lights are on
Mass Effect was one of the most action-packed space odysseys we've ever experienced, and it has at least two sequels that look to up that ante in nearly every way. Whether you are new to the universe or an experienced explorer, feel free to pull up a chair
Mass Effect 4 has been confirmed by Bioware reps and presumably, is under development. What do you want for the next entry in the Mass Effect saga? Should our saves from ME 3 transfer over? What kind of gameplay should it have? Who do you think will be the new threat? I've got some ideas that I blogged about here.

Well, first of all, I don't believe BioWare confirmed Mass Effect 4 precisely, they just confirmed that they were developing another game in the ME universe. Whether that means a sequel or prequel or even a story that runs parallel to the ME trilogy is yet to be seen. I think game saves should transfer over, however, in a manner that makes it feel like you're playing in a world that you helped shape. I'm excited to see what it will actually be, but I doubt it will vary far from the third-person shooter-adventure style that they have so well honed.
It's pretty much been confirmed a sequel to the series in some fashion, of course the particulars aren't known yet. Over at BSN they are taking fan thoughts into consideration, and debate has begun on whether or not it will be set in the past or the future - so far, it's assumed by most to be the future, as well as what fans would want to see in the next Mass Effect. A pr for Bioware even hinted that one of the ending choices might be made canon. I won't say which though.
I wrote a blog about it, and while I'd like to see save transfer pass over, I think it will be hard to do that successfully without an established ending. Hopefully we'll see more RPG elements in it.
bioware said shep will NOT be in the ME. as far as I can see a sequel to shepard's story would be dumb. does shep live? what real purpose would he/she have in a galaxy without the reapers? and it would have to take place either on a single planet, more than likely earth, or years later after the relays are rebuilt. more like decades. so bioware *** themselves with the lackluster endings. so prequel and or parrallel story to sheps is the most logical point to start another epic. hopefully this time they don't screw themselves with holes in the story, bosses worth fighting and "more of them", and hopefully no one will leak info on it so we don't miss out on something amazing. i.e. mutated by reaper tech illusive man as final boos.
Lets hope they don,t blow it again.
Solid, who says a sequel has to include Commander Shepard? Before the second Mass Effect was even released, Bioware had long said the third Mass Effect would be the end of Shepard's story. It doesn't mean that it's the end of the series itself. There are tons of planets and several races to choose from to build a story, not just humans, not to mention plenty of possible new threats they can develop.
I hope in Mass Effect 4 that they let us choose the race of our character. I'd love to play as a Turian through the story.
That's what everyone's been clamoring for, so I definitely suspect that might be possible.
A clean slate would be wonderful. After seeing Paragon Lost, I feel a dead, stale feeling in the air around Mass Effect. I personally, hated the movie, and ME3 honestly was a waste of my time.
Also, any info you've heard about Mass Effect 4 is probably unreliable. The news sprouted at GamerSyndrome, and they admittedly posted unofficial info. BioWare, nor EA had anything to say on a new title, but I'm sure they're under development on something.
Although, two founders from the originial writing team have left. I couldn't imagine anything comparing to the original titles or Revelations/Ascension.
I would like to see the same engine, with some more interactive battle elements, classes, customization and a race option. Incorporating some Elder Scrolls elements perhaps. Not open world however. All I could think during ME2 was, why can't I be an awesome Quarian fleet commander!
