  • I think we're getting close to the announcement of F4, I'd say it's going to be sometime between this year's VGA's and next year's.
  • Fallout 3 was released in 2008 and skyrim was released in 2011. 3 years so if that trend continues that puts us looking at a 2014 release date on Fallout 4, assuming that Bethesda is developing it and it is their next project. since Skyrim was announced at the VGA's in 2010, it is likely that that will be where they announce Fallout 4, and it is also likely that it will be this year. We may not be that far away!

  • Exactly my point. My only fear is that it will be a Xbox One exclusive. I would just about die.

  • It'll definitely be on PS4 and PC.  Also, Bethesda is currently working on a Wolfenstein game right now, so I doubt they'll have time for Fallout 4 for a while (unless they're only publishing it in which case, we should hear about Fallout 4 in the next year or two)

  • We don't know for sure if it will be on PS4 or PC, but there is a high probablity that they will. Bethesda Softworks has just announced a partnership with Playstation saying that the Beta for Elder Scrolls Online will be on PS4 first so the chances of them turning around and putting Fallout 4 on Xbox One only are very slim.

Also Machine Games is the one developing Wolfenstein and Bethesda is just publishing that one. Bethesda Game Studios, the company that developed Fallout 3, has not yet announced what they are working on, but they have said that they are done with Skyrim and are going full force on their next project. Hopefully Fallout 4.

  • My worry would be that they would have a similar issue with getting the DLC out on the PS4 that they had with the PS3. I am not worried that they will not put it out on PS4 as much as that if I get it on PS4 there will be troubles with updates and DLC like there were with Fallout 3 and Skyrim. It could be longer before DLC comes out on PS4 but that will probably be the most that could happen. Also a few more bugs in the PS$ version, if the older games are any indication.

  • Well I just worry about it because in the past Bethesda has displayed a much better relationship with Microsoft than with Sony (Morrowind was only on Xbox and PC while the PS2 was out, Skyrim's DLC was temporarily 360 exclusive, and other little things). The DLC & bug problems that happened with the PS3 most likely won't happen again since the PS3 had very complicated Hardware and not-so-good Software which made it hard to harness its power and develop for it, hence all the glitches and DLC complication, but the PS4 is much easier to develop for with much better software.

But hearing about about that deal with Sony about TES online makes it seem way less likely that F4 would be Xbox One exclusive.

  • What Cameron said. The hardware implementations with regards to the CPU's utilization of each console's RAM this time around actually makes the PS4 slightly easier to program for than the Xbox One, so the glitches and DLC issues which plagued PS3 copies of Bethesda's titles should be a thing of the past.

As far as the relationship with Microsoft goes, considering Bethesda took to Sony's stage at E3 to reveal TESO for consoles, as well as the significant advantage the PS4 has in projected sales numbers among hardcore gamers at current, I can't imagine Bethesda deciding to make Fallout 4 a PS4 exclusive.

As far as what you said MaulYoda, Bethesda is only the publisher for the new Wolfenstein game. Numerous leaks indicate Fallout 4 is in development, and given Bethesda's normal trends, as well as adhering to leaked information, it should be announced before the end of the year, and I would guess a fall 2014 release, though that is mere speculation based off their normal trends.

  • *Can't imagine Bethesda deciding to make Fallout 4 an Xbox One exclusive. Derp. Not that I see it being a PS4 exclusive either lol.

  • Yeah, the game should be released fall-holiday of 2014, or 2015 at most. Also, about the leaks, it's also possible that they're making a Fallout show. I highly doubt they are, but it's possible, especially given the fact that Bethesda filed for a trademark of a Fallout tv show or something like that, but that doesn't neccesarily mean they're going to make one. Also, that could explain the Three-Dog voice actor's tease (he said that he may be returning to the role of Three-Dog). Or that could just be for F4.

  • I never doubted Fallout 4 wasn't in development, I just said Wolfenstein might be Bethesda's current project so development on Fallout 4 would be slowed.  But since they're only publishing Wolfenstein (and even if they weren't, it's coming out in 2013 so they wouldn't have to spend too much more time on it), I'd say fall 2014 sounds about right

  • The only reason Morrowind wasn't on PS2 was because the PS2 couldn't handle it. Since both Next-Gen consoles are out around the same time before Fallout 4, there is no reason it will not be on both.

And how do you guys feel about a Fallout tv show? I don't know what to think. I should like it because I love Fallout but I think they would mess it up somehow.

  • It simply depends who was making it. I think shows like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones are proving that it is more than possible to do longer, epic-style shows extremely well. In that format, I think a Fallout TV show could be a hit.

  • Very true, but where would they put it?

  • Very true, but where would they put it? It couldn't easily be put somewhere that has had a game in it because not everyone does the same thing.
